Joe Lorigo - a Democrat running on the Republican line?!?!?!?

In the mail today I received a political ad from the Friends of Joe Lorigo. In this advertisement there are testimonials from Patricia DePasquale, Wally Piotrowski ad Mark Schroeder. One Republican and two Democrats, which is interesting because Mr. Lorigo, a Democrat, will only appear on the Conservative and Republican lines for this office. Jeffrey Harrington will appear on the lines for the Democratic Party, Independence Party and Working Families Party.

Mr. Lorigo on his website lorigoforjustice.com lists as his experience that he is an attorney, criminal and civil litigation. What Mr. Lorigo does not say is that he has been admitted to the practice of law only since 2008. That he currently works for the Law Office of Ralph Lorigo, his father, which appears to be his only post admission experience. Ralph Lorigo is also the Chairman of the Erie County Conservative Party.

It should also be noted that Ralph Lorigo represented Patricia DePasquale in my challenge to the effective date of the downsizing vote.

Mr. Harrington has been practicing law since 1999 in a wide variety of areas from family law, criminal defense, civil litigation as well as being a prosecutor for the Town of West Seneca and its deputy town attorney ( harringtonfortownjustice.com ). Has appeared before the courts of the State of New York on all levels from the town court to the State's highest court, the Court of Appeals.

What disappoints me is that Mr. Lorigo was able to run on the Republican line. I did not like it when the West Seneca Republican Party allowed Mr. Piotrowski, a Democrat, run for Town Supervisor on the Republican line and I do not like it that Mr. Lorigo is. I am not saying that the Republican Party must only run members, however to allow a person who is not a Republican run on the line that individual must possess some unique experience or talent that makes them an extraordinary candidate. This is simply not the case in this race. I would be more supportive of someone with Mr. Harrington's experience and background to run on the Republican line.

This coming election day I will be voting for Jeffrey Harrington for Town Justice and I hope my fellow Republicans do as well.
