    Broadway Market

Cuomo announced that the state is going to piss away $4 million on the decrepit relic of a bygone era, the Broadway Market. It’s going to turn it into a “year around experience”. This follows on his past great successes, the film studio in Syracuse (“Hollywood in Onondaga”, he called it) and his $750 million giveaway to whackjob, Elon Musk, both of which have created thousands of new jobs....wait, what’s that? You mean they haven’t created thousands of jobs? One is shuttered and the other is nothing but a building shell full of broken down equipment? Well, at least this idiot idea is only $4 million. Wonder how much of that is set aside for campaign contributors to skim off?

I think we’ve been given an answer to my question about the set aside for corruption. I read somewhere that a half million is set aside for “studies”. Whenever you see “studies” in a government funded project it’s a code word for giveaways to the connected. And I forgot to mention Cuomo’s master stroke, the Amazon headquarters in Queens. Oh, that’s right...another “economic development” cluster ****.

I read that they were "investing" 4 million. I don't get it. I don't get why any group would support this nonsense especially after witnessing a lack of success of any projects over the last 20 years.

This is why I believe it's time to call out Jeremy/ecdems.com including all the supporting town/village board members active in this party.

    You are thieves.

Mayor.Buster Browns' buddy Cuomo...just trying to appease the inner city folks...they just love to throw/WASTE the taxpayers $$ for some press...worse outcome.. when it does nothing to enhance the future...they can exclain ...we tried..and find another reason that it failed.
The neighborhood, is not a place where residents of other parts of the city and suburbs...want to visit on a frequent basis..guess why?

The only thing wrong with the Broadway Market is the location. It's in the worst part of the city. That's just the kind of bad luck Buffalo has. If Buffalo was lucky, the Broadway Market would have been the 'Cobblestone Market'...just outside of downtown and close enough to center city for people from the burbs to feel not only comfortable but trendy to go there. It would be a super trendy place to go and something of a tourist destination.

    But, alas, not so much.

Leftie, like the Pike Place Market in Seattle. I watched them throwing the day’s fresh catch from worker to worker. It was entertaining. At Broadway market we could have booths where the locals from the ‘hood could be cutting and bagging cocaine, heroin and such for sale to visitors. There could be an Arab-owned minimarket inside with a shelf of moldy, month old Twinkies for sale with a back room where on could watch as the owners break down AK-47’s and such for sale on the street. A real taste of the neighborhood!

Even if the market was dead center of the perfect spot why should other businesses subsidize other businesses?

Folks, let’s face it....the market for the butter lamb is a very small market, indeed. And you can buy one at Wegmans without coming out of the store to find your car up on blocks.

That's funny. "Calista's Cocaine Company" or "Peter's Pot Shop"...

My grandmother dragged me to the Broadway Market many times... Also to AM&A's and all the long gone stores...

I remember she would get eels.

BECAUSE...that the trend...why try hard to succeed/invest at your own cost...when the city will tax those who have worked hard..so that others can be sustained without the effort...Socialism in now the trend...those who can afford to pay. will be forced to subsidize everyone else...wait till the new City of Buffalo tax bills come out...there is already an initiative to give a greater discount to those who cant afford to pay...even thought their homes have appreciated in value ...like every other property
Note...Perhaps a shooting range would be a popular fit for the Broadway Market..after all...it would be a shoe in for the demographics of crime in this inner city neighborhood!

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) After losing its original location to a fire, Gigi's re-opened at the new Northland Workplace Training Center. The new owner says after two weeks, he couldn't keep up with the demand.

Mayor Byron Brown says he was saddened by the news. "The restaurant experienced incredible demand, incredible patronage that exceeded all expectations, and at this time is closed," says Mayor Byron Brown.

    The from their facebook

Tony Fracasso "He says a new request for proposals process will take place to get another operator. "The materials bought by the state will be used by the new operator," and Brown adds will be in move-in condition."

What materials were bought by the state?

    What are they talking about?

Why is the state buying restaurant equipment?

Mark Koeppel I believe they were part of the recovery process after the fire but I could be wrong. I would think anyone can apply for assistance after a disaster like this. It is kind of like a person loosing everything in a fire.

The owner admitted that he had no restaurant experience, not a cook or business person, just wanted to honor his moms legacy. So he gets talked into it by the powers that be, big photo op with hochul and brown, throw tax payer money at him, now it’s all pissed away and they’re looking for a new tenant. Wtf.
