anyone remember back in Aug. 1976!

Does anybody here remember the free concert behind the Blvd. Mall on August 26th. , ( pretty sure ), 1976.
It was like where the food court area is now on the backside off Alberta Dr.
I was there and wanted to know if anybody here was there also.
The 2 bands that played were Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show and
The Runaways, a girl group from California.
Dr. Hook had a bunch of hits but I was there to see The Runaways.
I think it was promoted by our local radio station, WGRQ.
Also, does anyone have pictures from that show. I'd love to see them.
Funny, after all these years I now work with a guy who used to live in
Tonawanda that was actually at this show. I live and work in Batavia.
    He didn't take any pictures.
I took some but they are terrible and from the side of the stage next to the Ryder trucks that, I'm guessing, brought the equipment in. Too many people in front of the stage.
There were probably like 200, maybe 300 people there so to find anyone here is probably pretty slim.
    Thanks for your help,

I know you're asking us to go through our old photographs to see if we took a picture of a concert that took place about 45 years ago - that's a long shot buddy.

Can't speak for the rest of the readers, but, I wasn't there. Perhaps you should ask someone like Russo at 97 Rock, or maybe Tom Baurle at Entercom Broadcasting, since Taft is no longer around.

I'm not asking for you to look through your old photographs.
My original post said...does anyone remember being there?
It's like 7 months shy of 35 years also.
I think anyone that had an interest in Dr. Hook or The Runaways would remember. For me it was The Runaways.
In fact a movie came out recently about The Runaways with Kristen Stewart of Twilight fame starring.
How many times were there free concerts behind the Blvd Mall?
I'd think not many so your memory would be pretty vivid. Mine is!
    Thanks for the reply though,

as they say, if you can remember the 70's you probably weren't participating in them.

    Ha...y'all are funny.
So you mention Joan Jett, well that's a start. She was 16 back when
    she played with The Runaways...'76
Do you remember her playing at Gateway Park a few years back
at the Molson Canal Concerts in N. Tonawanda?
I was there and my ears still hurt...too close to the speakers.
    Or too old maybe!!
The Runaways movie, buffy, was good...of course I'm a bit biased

    mesue,

    No Tubes at this concert.
Only Dr. Hook and The Runaways.
Maybe they played on a different date.
Didn't know that they did Free concerts behind the mall often or not.
I only know of the one I was at.

Not on that date but in that venue that summer, or the summer before, maybe?

    mesue,

After speaking with my co-worker he seems to think that The Tubes may have played there, or some other place in the region. He doesn't, or I for that matter, remember any other concerts that happened at this venue, (which was just a stage set up behind the Blvd. Mall). Maybe there was a few gigs played there for a summer!?

I think there were. I remember my bother going to them. I wasn't allowed.

I just happened upon this thread. I was there! That was a heck of a free double bill in a mall parking lot. If I'm remembering correctly, you used to be able to drive through between the mall and the bowling alley -- Suburban Lanes -- next door. I'm almost thinking that the road was kept open during the show. This wasn't the only concert at that location, but it was probably the best one. Didn't Dr. Hook play Freaker's Ball that day?
