Alfalfa?? Are you feeding horses?
Growing Sprouts in a jar. This is gonna be cool. I've grow plants in the ground, in pots and in buckets of water... but never in a jar.
You get everything you need in the jar including the seeds in this case and you just add water...
And they have easy instructions to follow....
and it works.. Tomorrow I'll post up what I ended up with.

You use them in salads and recipes. From what I have been reading they are supposed to be good fo you.

Funny you should mention horses; I always thought alfalfa sprouts were people food
I don’t want to bore anyone with too many details but alfalfa sprouts are packed with protein, essential amino acids plus vitamins that people who are vegetarians (like myself) have a hard time getting through other food sources – Vitamin B12 in particular. I’ll post a great sandwich recipe using them on the healthy recipe forum tonight – they are outstanding and haven’t found a person yet who didn’t love them!>>

The whole jar is full today.. how cool.

Wow, great visual. Res check out my sprout recipe on the Vege post.
They were easy to grow. Just have to rinse them a few times a day in the jar. I'm going to try a set of growing trays for the larger seed sprouts and see how that goes.

I haven't done that in 30 years I used to use that jar method and use the sprouts in salad. I should get back to that way of eating.
First Amendment rights are like muscles, if you don't exercise them they will atrophy.
I was surprised the whole jar was basically full. I started the 3-mix salad seeds last night. I don't think they will replace pizza or chocolate anytime soon either.

From a new client and seeing I like to grow things I decided to give it shot...

I guess they must be an acquired taste - I think they are outstanding personally and it's a lot cheaper growing them at home as opposed to buying them in the stores.
Are you using the 3-part salad mix (alfalfa, Chinese cabbage and radish seed)? You don't need to use the whole packet of seeds just 2-4 Tbs. of the small and 4-6 Tbs. of the larger types, I'm sure you knew that though - just checking!
I sprouted enough Mung beans to make a good stir fry with tonight, they look nice and healthy - nothing like the store bought varieties.
Much cheaper... Plus you really can not get any fresher than right out of the jar....
Yep that is the three part mix and they are hatching as we speak... I'll take a photo and I have to head into work.. I'm running late.
