Adamucci estimated the overall loss in bakery and restaurant equipment at between $80,000 and $90,000.

This wasn't like a broken window but something where people could be seriously injured.But no work was done during the 104 days that transpired between the first roof collapse on Aug. 21 and the Dec. 4 emergency demolition triggered by the additional roof damage.
What type of specific insurance is a business supposed to have that would cover damages caused by the space you rent?Adler, whose insurance claim in August was rejected, could not be reached to comment.
That is impressive of Feature Eatery.Adamucci said she has been deeply moved by the "the support and love" received the last several days. The owners of Feature Eatery, located downtown, have allowed her to use their kitchen so she can keep her wholesale business going, including baking gluten-free pies for Thanksgiving and preparing baked products for Christmas.
"They have allowed us to come into their kitchen twice a week since this happened in August, and they won't let us pay them," Adamucci said. "It makes me want to cry to think about the kindness that they have shown us."

That's pretty devastating.
So featureeatery is pickup only? Seems difficult without parking. I'd love to find an old building to move the companies in but a few apartments above. Live in one and rent out the others. When we retire be like Fred and Ethel from I Love Lucy.

YES...Blame the absentee landlord..BUT...even more so...blame the city of Buffalo...Inspection/Code Enforcement Dept AND the lenient HOUSING COURT system. This property was cited in August...where the hell was everyone involved???! This should of been put up for Housing Court almost immediately...Judge Carney says it never got to him..what Code inspector had this case sitting in a pile of shuffled papers on his desk...the system is much to slow and the motivation to move quickly on problem properties, whether absentee OR owner occupied is much too slow...the blight all over the city is moving faster than the Code Inspection dept and Housing Court..some one needs to get off their a$$ and start doing their job...the Common Council and Mayor need to start waking up its' enforcement people and some light needs to be put on the Courts and its' seemingly lack of aggressiveness in supporting the Code enforcement people!
I tend to agree. as I understand it, the subject building was an occupied structure that suffered a substantial roof failure. It was (apparently) recognized as serious enough that evacuation was ordered. C'mon, if that doesn't rise to the top of the pile, I'd be interested to know what conditions do rise(?).

The Buffalo Common Council is asking Bruce Adler, a principal in Buffalo Properties, to attend the Dec. 17 Community Development Committee to report on the status of all the properties he owns and maintains in Buffalo.
And the Council directed the city's Permit and Inspection Services Department to file a report by next week's meeting on any current violations on any property owned by Buffalo Properties, which is registered downstate in Nyack.
