It's not a penalty to pay more tax if you increase the value of your home; it's a recognition that your home is worth more. And why in hell do I want policy in this country determined by what they do in a scumhole like Mexico?

Just about every City & Town in the Country has been doing Pension Reform's, some are now even are on their 3rd Pension Reform within 10 years except in WNY.

Jennifer7, in New York local governments have almost no control over the public pension system. It's almost all defined by state law. That said, the state has made several changes to the pension system over the years. The most recent, Tier 6, is more conservative in eligibility times than most of the other ones.

Whats the number one way the govt uses to punish people?

    Charge them fines.

Higher taxes because you did some landscaping ect, is punishment. the argument that because houses 1,2,3 decided to put 50K into their homes, so houses 4-10 should do the same? what are you smoking? What happened to private property rights?

If the home is maintained, but maybe not upgraded quite frankly wtf business is it of yours?

Oh because the value went up? news flash, land prices will almost always go up unless theres a housing crash, at which point do you think if the value of all the land in amherst fell thruogh the floor, that your taxes would be cheaper?

further more, paying taxes is NOT a good thing. as a smart person its your obligation to find every legal way to get out of paying taxes.

Well FMD at least you're suggesting that people find legal ways of avoiding taxes. Of course, if it's a legal way they're not avoiding taxes, they don't owe it in the first place. Weren't you going to barricade yourself in a couple of years ago and make them come and take your taxes? Still in the planning stages on that one?
