WASHINGTON – In April, with hospitals overwhelmed and much of the United States in lockdown, the Department of Health and Human Services produced a presentation for the White House arguing that rapid development of a coronavirus vaccine was the best hope to control the pandemic.
Gee, I got news for ya pal, if we didn't have Trump probably none of that (other than Covid-19) would have happened - he's been terrible all along!

The article you posted simply told the truth, but again you jump to conclusions then lead to Trump being unfairly attacked. Boo hoo.

For the Cave Man President and his party, clubbing women is not a path to victory.

    By Maureen Dowd
    Opinion Columnist

President Trump is oh so proud of having mastered the ability to intone, “Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.”

But the more pressing issue is whether he is a person who can master talking to women through a TV camera without sounding like a cave man.

We continually debate whether Trump is a madman, but there’s no doubt he’s a Mad Man. He’s a ring-a-ding-ding guy, stuck in a time warp redolent of Vegas with the Rat Pack in 1959, talking about how “broads” and “skirts” rate. He was in his element bro-ing out with Dave Portnoy in an interview for “Barstool Sports” that aired Friday.

Trump’s idea of wooing the women’s vote, which is decisive in this election, was to tweet out a New York Post story headlined “Joe Biden’s disastrous plans for America’s suburbs” with the directive: “The Suburban Housewives of America must read this article.”

Clearly, the 74-year-old president thinks that American women are in the kitchen, clutching their pearls à la June Cleaver, sheltered in the ’burbs in their gingham aprons, waiting for their big, brave breadwinners to come home after a hard day’s work manhandling their secretaries.

Trump believes that the coveted electoral cohort that used to be known as soccer moms are actually sucker moms, naïve enough to fall for his schtick that the unleashed forces of urban America are marching toward their manicured lawns.

How perfect that the pussy-grabbing president — whose personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, got in trouble over his boss’s porn-star payout — wants to protect the desperate housewives of America.

In a speech on drug prices on Friday, Trump took his strange brand of feminism for a spin, pausing while he talked about middlemen profiting in the Big Pharma arena, to say “and women, I guess.”

On the Bulwark, a conservative website, Sarah Longwell wrote about her three-years-worth of focus groups with women who voted for Trump in 2016.
She found that they chose Trump over Hillary Clinton because they did not like Clinton and because they felt that Bill Clinton’s bad behavior with women canceled out Trump’s bad behavior with women.

But the relationship with women voters has soured, not only because of his pugnacity and bullying, but because of his lack of compassion and competence dealing with the coronavirus and painful issues about race.

“They don’t see Trump as someone who can protect them from the chaos,’’ Longwell wrote. “They think he’s the source of it.”

And his party is on board with the antediluvian vibe. R-Misogyny. Even on the 100th anniversary of women getting the vote, Republicans can’t help themselves.

It feels strange to be typing something positive in a sentence with the word Cheney in it, but it was disturbing to see a bunch of MAGA bros in Congress beat up on Liz Cheney because, among other offenses to the cult of Trump, she defended Dr. Anthony Fauci and shaded Trump on his denial on the virus by tweeting a picture of her father in a mask with the hashtag, “realmenwearmasks.”

One Trump disciple in the House, Rep. Matt Gaetz, tweeted that “Liz Cheney has worked behind the scenes (and now in public) against @realDonald Trump and his agenda.” He added, “Liz Cheney should step down or be removed.”

Donald Jr. chimed in on Twitter, “We already have one Mitt Romney, we don’t need another.”

(Of course, while it feels strange to be typing something positive in a sentence with the word Trump in it, Don Jr. was right in his second point, “We also don’t need the endless wars she advocates for.” That point was echoed by the president on Twitter. I would never agree with a Cheney’s mindless hawkishness.)

As Republicans sniped, one Democrat soared.

Ted Yoho, a Florida Republican, tried to slap down Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. A reporter overheard him muttering that the congresswoman was “a ****ing bitch” as Yoho walked away after having an argument with her about crime and policing on the steps of the Capitol. (Yoho denies he said it.)

The youngest woman to ever serve in Congress is so full of natural political talent, burning so bright, that the 2020 field seems dull next to her luster. It was a remarkable moment on Capitol Hill, where for years super-achieving women have let such sexist remarks slide.

She went to the House floor Thursday and schooled Yoho the Yahoo and the retrograde crowd.

“Mr. Yoho mentioned that he has a wife and two daughters,” she said. “I am two years younger than Mr. Yoho’s youngest daughter. I am someone’s daughter, too.” She added, “I am here because I have to show my parents that I am their daughter, and that they did not raise me to accept abuse from men.”

Showing her skill in a generational dimension foreign to Congress until now, A.O.C. posted a video of herself on Instagram Stories strutting to the rap tune “Boss Bitch” by Doja Cat, her long hair whipping to the music, with the Capitol in the background. “I’m a bitch and a boss, Im’a shine like gloss.” She captioned it: “Shine on, fight for others, and let the haters stay mad.”

And that’s the way you make Paleolithic men understand that they are history.

Workers contemplate next steps after losing extra $600 in unemployment

    https://buffalonews.com/news/local/w...=home-trending

Christopher D'Arcy was a senior at Lancaster High School working part time at Regal Cinemas when coronavirus shut down movie theaters. His biweekly checks ranged from $88 during his team's football season, to about $800 during the theater's busy holidays. On unemployment, with the extra $600, he was bringing home $722 every week.

He set some aside, but he was still able to splurge on a thousand-dollar gold necklace and a new hard drive for his Xbox. He did try to find another job once he got bored staying at home, he said, but maybe not very hard. He had quit Tops to start at Regal so that wasn't an option. Wegmans turned him down after the second interview when they found out he had quit Tops, and Valu Home Centers never called him back, he said. Now that the enhanced benefits have expired, D'Arcy brings home $180 per week, and will likely continue to when he leaves town to start at Alfred State College this month.

On the one side we have Congressional members willing to hand out money without consequence to those not deserving, and on the other side members who want to ensure the coming unemployment plan reaches only the truly needy, but comes to the table at the 11th hour and where the recipients in dire need are being shortchanged.

Another example of an inept body politic that engages to serve their best interest over that of its citizens struggling to survive.

    We are so screwed!

    Covid-19: Differing reports

Truth? BS? Hypocrisy? You be the judge!

    Covid vaccine

"We're not quite 5% of the world's population, yet represent 20-25% of the world's infections ... I mean, that has to be the worst. Is it not the worst?" CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta asked Fauci during an interview.

"Yeah, it is quantitatively if you look at it, it is. I mean the numbers don't lie," Fauci said.

His words directly undercut the misleading and rosy picture President Donald Trump has sought to paint around the COVID-19 outbreak in the US, which is part of a broader effort to downplay his administration's failures in responding to the pandemic.

U.S. regulators have assured scientists that political pressure will not determine when a coronavirus vaccine is approved even as the White House hopes to have one ready ahead of the November presidential election, the country's leading infectious diseases expert Anthony Fauci said on Wednesday.

President Donald Trump, a Republican, is behind Democrat Joe Biden in public opinion polls ahead of the Nov. 3 election. Trump has lost ground in part due to voter concerns over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

    Virus impact and government control

In 4 months, the U.S. transformed into an obedient socialist country. Government dictated what events are acceptable to attend. Violent protests that instill fear are OK but church services, family funerals and patriotic celebrations are dangerous.

Standing in a graduation line is a "safety hazard". Small businesses, restaurants and gun stores/ranges were forced to close but crowds to support the corporate money machine at Walmart, Lowes and Home Depot are OK.

Come on. It's "just a mask" & "safety precautions". How about a little hush money? Here's $2,400 that we stole out of your paycheck in the first place. Enjoy. Buy something with it. From a big corporation.

Cash is dirty. We can't give change. There's a coin shortage. Use your card. In 4 months, they convinced you to use a traceable card for everything.

In less than 4 months, government closed public schools then "restructured" education under the guise of "public safety". In less than 4 months, our government demonstrated how easily people assimilate to "guidelines" that have NO scientific premise whatsoever when you are fearful.

In less than 4 months, our government successfully instilled fear in a majority of the population in America that allows them to control every aspect of your life. Including what you eat, where you go, and who you see.

And the most dangerous and terrifying part? People are not afraid of the government who removed their freedom. They're afraid of their neighbors, family and friends. And they hate those who won't comply.

It's absolutely terrifying to me that so many people don't question "authority". They are willing to surrender their critical thinking skills and independence. They just... gave up without thinking. Without a fight.

Do you know what's coming next?

"It's just a vaccine. Come on. It's for the greater good".

Wait until you're told that you can't enter any store or business without proof of the Covid-19 vaccine. Wait until you can't go to public events or get on a plane without proof of receiving the vaccine.

To everyone that doesn't believe this is possible - DO YOU UNDERSTAND that government successfully dictated to people WHEN they were allowed to be outside, where they were allowed to go, and how their children would be educated in less than 4 months? And that a majority of the population followed blindly because they were told to do so.

You're kidding yourself if you think this behavior won't be repeated with a vaccine. Or whatever the next step is.

6 million Jews were exterminated in Germany because 97% of the population cowered to populist control. Nobody wanted to think about it. It's easier to just ignore it.

But that couldn't happen here, right?

    Conspiracy, coincidence?

WELL, WELL!! Isn’t it just an interesting coincidence that Remdesivir is made by Gilead and is the “CURE” for COVID-19....and here’s where it gets interesting:

China holds the patent on the drug through an agreement with Gilead’s drug patent sharing subsidiary branch called UNITAID, who has an office near Wuhan, and you’ll never guess who are the main financial investors in UNITAID....none other than George Soros, Bill & Melinda Gates, and WHO.

I know what you’re thinking! It’s just all a coincidence isn’t it! Oh, don’t let me forget the other coincidence, that Gilead and UNITAID were financial supporters of Hillary Clinton.

Oh, silly me, I forgot one more coincidence, Fauci was the one authorizing millions to be sent to The Wuhan Institute of Virology specifically for the “study” of Coronaviruses.

I sure am thankful it’s all just coincidences! Nothing to see here, just keep moving along. WOW!

No wonder Fauci slapped down hydroxychloroquine which has a 92% success rate...he was told to!! Dr. Fauci's wife also works for Gilead.

The Best Coincidences are always found when you follow the money..!! !

I don’t know... does it make you ask questions? Do your own research... could all just be coincidence?!?!

    Some good coronavirus news?

Fauci says virus may never be eradicated, contradicting Trump

Trump, however, has repeatedly insisted that the virus will "just disappear" at some point whether or not an effective vaccine is distributed.

The United States has what it takes to get Covid-19 case levels down to more manageable levels by Election Day in November if it uses masks and other "fundamental tenets of infection control" -- but it needs to get serious now, Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN on Thursday.

"We can be way down in November ... if we do things correctly, and if we start right now," Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN's "New Day."

Fauci's roadmap is the same one he's been preaching, including using masks in public, social distancing and washing hands.

Vaccines tailored to help the younger - why vaccines are less effective in older people

    Epoch Times report

As the global spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus continues, we learn more about the effects of this new virus.

For many respiratory pathogens, including If the goal is to have influenza, viruses and respiratory syncytial viruses, older adults experience the most severe forms of the disease and the highest death rates.

For example, for every 10,000 Americans between 18 and 49 years old, only 0.4 people die from the annual flu. That number increases to 5.9 people per 100,000 for those aged between 65-74 years, and 47.5 people per 10,000 over 74 years old.

However, most of these diseases can have a predilection for causing severe disease in those who are very young.

In this respect, Covid-19 is very different. Data from relatively early in the pandemic showed a dramatic difference in the rates of age-associated deaths, with case fatality rate of 4.5 percent for patients ages 60 and up, versus only 1.4 percent for those under 60 years old, with those under 30 years ranging from zero to 0.19 percent.

With Covid-19 placing a spotlight on the elderly as the age demographic most in need of a vaccine, immunologists feel compelled to look at vaccines that are tailoring immunization strategies for this population. Their conclusion is that vaccinologists have largely failed to focus on tailoring vaccines for those most as risk – older people with weaker immune systems.

This is also associated with an increase in the in the incidence of inflammatory diseases, because an elderly body tends to be in a state of chronic grade inflammation. This ‘inflammation aging’ is one reason why older people develop more serious forms of respiratory diseases.

The key problem with SARS Co-V2 infection is inflammation in the respiratory tract, which can be exacerbated in individuals predisposed toward potential inflammatory responses.

Immunosenescense also results in diminished responses to vaccination. Indeed, annual flu vaccines are notoriously lees effective in the elderly. The fact that older people don’t respond well to immunizations has largely been ignored in most discussions of Covid-19 vaccines, despite this being the group in greatest need. Most of the scientific community’s experience with vaccine development has been focused on vaccinating the relatively young.

If the goal is to have Covid-19 vaccines ready for public use by 2021, the only ones that have a chance are those that are currently in clinical trials. It is likely that most of these did not undergo preclinical optimization for an elderly population, meaning that these first generation Covid-19 vaccines may perform poorly for those who need them the most.

Dr. Anthony Fauci says chance of coronavirus vaccine being highly effective is ‘not great’

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/07/coro...not-great.html

White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said Friday that the chances of scientists creating a highly effective vaccine — one that provides 98% or more guaranteed protection — for the virus are slim.

Scientists are hoping for a coronavirus vaccine that is at least 75% effective, but 50% or 60% effective would be acceptable, too, Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during a Q&A with the Brown University School of Public Health.

A 50% effective vaccine would be roughly on par with those for influenza, but below the effectiveness of one dose of a measles vaccination, which is about 93% effective, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Amendment to house bill H.R. 7617: deal, or no deal

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was nominated for an Emmy for her film project “Art of the Green New Deal.” Modeled after President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal package, the Green New Deal is designed to tackle climate change and income inequality, with an estimated cost of $7 trillion.

Not all is at it appears.

Ocasio-Cortez Amendment Would Block New Pipeline Construction, Hobble US Energy System, Critics Claim

    https://www.theepochtimes.com/aoc-am...m_3441932.html

“This amendment is nothing less than unilateral energy disarmament that benefits the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Red China. At the same time [Ocasio-Cortez] is advising Joe Biden on energy and introducing amendments to stop American energy infrastructure, the Red China government is announcing a $56 billion deal to own and expand their own energy circulation system,” American Energy Alliance Senior Vice President Dan Kish said on July 28.

“China knows it needs a good energy delivery system to make the solar panels, wind turbine parts and inverters and batteries Ocasio-Cortez’ Green New Deal will subsidize and force Americans to buy,” Kish told The Epoch Times.

“Since China controls 90+ percent of the rare earth minerals and the cobalt and lithium and other minerals ‘green energy’ sources require, this amendment really sets China up for a huge economic stimulus,” he said.

As the left undertakes all avenues to undermine Trump, in turn it offers polarization, indifference to anarchy / mob rule, open borders, equal rights for illegals, Sanctuary Cities, culture change, etc.

No matter who wins the presidential race in November, the pandemic is not going away, chaos is assured, and:

    We will still be screwed!

...appeared in the exact same article as this Fauci comment...

On Friday, Fauci reiterated that he is “cautiously optimistic” scientists will find a safe and effective vaccine.
Every silver lining has a cloud, eh Dr. Fauci?

More curiously, perhaps Dr. Fauci's bleak assessment was intended to support the opinion of the WHO; the same organization that, early in the pandemic, worked so very closely with the Chinese Communist government to stop the spread?...

Health officials say there is no returning to “normal” until there is a vaccine. Fauci’s comment came a day after the World Health Organization cautioned about the development of vaccines, reiterating that there may never be a “silver bullet” for the virus, which continues to rapidly spread worldwide.

Oh my, Mark this is the first time I heard this. Troubling indeed. So I would imagine the administrations FBI is investigating this threat. I do recall Pelosi recently stating she is going to sit in Trumps seat, and that he won't be around much longer. Interesting...

There is a great deal of noise out there shortstuff; too much, in my opinion only, to be discounted.

Trump at his presser last night, subtly doubled-down on his Clyde, Ohio remarks, when he referenced, I believe, some sort of COVID funding relief due for Presidential attention in early December, with the caveat "Hopefully, I'll be here then."

I think he is calling-out the revolutionaries and palace schemers to put light on them and their intentions, just my opinion f course.

Sometimes, Presidents appear to may know or sense something we don't.

Lincoln told intimates of a "dream" foretelling his assassination just days prior to April 14, 1865. In fact, he shared a somewhat more cryptic dream with his cabinet on the very morning of April 14, 1865.

Whether the President was voicing superstitious concerns or was disclosing tangible threats behind the veil of dreams, who knows?

President Kennedy apparently departed from the Lincoln dream-based prognostication, when he communicated a rather detailed scenario to presage his own assassination, and spoke of the prospect with stunning accuracy:

Mr. Kennedy warned his wife, "We're heading into nut country today. But Jackie," he added, "if somebody wants to shoot me from a window with a rifle, nobody can stop it, so why worry about it?" Mr. Kennedy had often told Dave Powers, one of his top aides, that it would be so easy for someone to shoot him with a rifle from a tall building.

This morning, Mr. Kennedy could not get the subject off his mind. He reminded Jackie of their harried, late night arrival at their Fort Worth hotel the previous night, when hundreds of strangers had surrounded them. "You know," he told her, "last night would have been a hell of a night to assassinate a president.
    "

Less specifically, but in a way even more unsettling, were Ronald Reagan's words delivered to the AFL-CIO Building Construction Trades Council on March 30, 1981. The President seemed to vaguely raise the consideration that life's choices have real consequences. Said the President in his Washington Hilton speech of that date:

Our destiny is not our fate. It is our choice.

Kind of mysteriously ironic eh, given the fact that minutes later, President Reagan was nearly shot to death by John W. Hinckley.

These above-referenced may be coincidental comments, but they are not folklore.

I ask the reader however, to consider what would the national reaction would have been had the Lincoln "dream" comment(s) or the Kennedy "scenario" observation(s) been circulated publicly prior to Good Friday evening, 1865, or before 1:30 p.m. EST on November 22, 1963.

Certainly would not the question would have been raised: "Does the President know something, and is he trying to warn us to prepare for it?"

    Just my two cents.

LIDA Member Rinow to Member Ruda: You were a sitting Trustee on the Board. Did you help support Mr. Sweeney getting a seat on the CDC Board?"
