First of all, if you want information about this project, please go directly to the school district or the website. The plans are public and there have been hearings on them. Be careful when reading info from other parties.
Secondly, the district went many years without any capital campaigns. And the result was that basic systems were in disrepair, and money had to be spent to update things like HVAC, windows, etc — and it took a lot of time to “catch up.”
Third, I’m proud of our school district. And I want the facilities to reflect the caliber of education and opportunities afforded to students, and I want that K-12. I think our athletes deserve updated fields, our students in related services deserve to have their sessions somewhere that’s not a hallway, and our musicians deserve lovely and appropriate performance spaces. I know that costs money. But it’s also the education we want for our children — and you all should want that too.
