    Lee, Shortstuff,

This may appear to be a non-sensical observation, but I am beginning to think that the worse thing that impacted the cause of freedom was the revolutions of 1989 and the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union.

The clear and present daily dangers presented by the USSR are now, at best, distant memories; at worse, scrubbed historical events.

In that connection, perhaps the lack of the ever-present threat(s) of the ominous, overbearing Red Russian Bear may have given the American people a false sense of invincibility.

More perplexing, if not more troubling, along with that sense of invincibility, perhaps the American people are now confidently inclined to indulge some of the Leftist urges to engage certain aspects of the discredited Socialist/Marxist experiment(s)?

In any event, the Marxist/Socialist threat appears to have engaged a successful, sleepy, deceptive, rope-a-dope. It is now awaken, reinvigorated, re-emergent, and thriving, not only on our campuses, but at the very highest levels of our government.

    CRT perspectives

Today’s Buffalo News opinion piece (Everybody’s Column) and Congressman Byron Donalds media interview present spot-on perspectives held by many Americans on Critical Race Theory – divisive and anti-American.

    Everybody’s Column

Critical Race Theory may do more harm

The July 8 letter writer claims that concerns around Critical Race Theory are fabricated. Using terms like bogeyman and Republican playbook the writer introduces subjects having nothing to do with what’s being taught in the classroom.

The letter writer, like other proponents of CRT, states critics’ concerns inaccurately, and then knock’s down the concerns. Critics aren’t calling to whitewash American history. Students are taught the good and the bad of our country’s history when they study slavery, carpetbaggers, and the Reconstruction period after the war. During Black history week and Martin Luther King Jr. Day students are aware of the obstacles and successes of Black Americans.

What some CRT critics do object to is indoctrinating children with a political ideology that views everything, including science and math, through the eyes of race. Critical Race Theory divides the world into identity groups with winners and losers. It’s a zero-sum game where race defines you. Children learn they are either oppressors or oppressed. Neither group is a desirable one to belong to. Children should feel they can take ownership of their lives and their outcome isn’t predetermined by the color of their skin.

The dangers of critical race theory can be demonstrated with California’s proposed math curriculum, “A Proposal to Equitable Math Instruction: Dismantling Racism in Mathematics” for K-12. Getting the right answer, having children show their work, and demonstrating knowledge of the subject is seen as a form of white supremacy.

Closer to home, the University at Buffalo’s Graduate School of Education had their students focus on equity and inclusiveness. It’s hard to see how centering on variables that teachers can’t control will help them be more effective in the classroom.

Our presidents were people who reflected the times they lived in. Jefferson owned slaves yet wrote the Declaration of Independence that espoused universal truths that hold true today. As a country we strive towards these ideals. We aim towards a more perfect union.

Critical race theory does the opposite by focusing on grievances and resentment. It denies the progress made. It focuses only on race and in a distorted way, like a blind man asked to describe an elephant but can only feel the trunk. Indoctrinating our children with a harmful ideology will only hurt the future of our country.

    Today in Cuckoo land

Having difficulty believing our country is heading in the right direction? Media reports are little help in giving guidance.

A sixth member of the delegation of Texas Democrats leaving behind governing responsibilities and camping in Washington, D.C. tested positive for Covid-19, Three of those that tested positive were believed to be fully vaccinated.

The liberal media is trying to silence everybody!

Radical liberals are trying to rewrite history.

With the shooting taking place at the baseball game the media got a taste of how the rest of D.C. lives and are speaking out on police funding.

The surge at the border continues as Biden and Psaki declare the border is closed and under control.

Democrats in Washington have introduced a new bill that aims to clear official place names of language deemed racist or offensive – including fish. The Reconciliation in Place Names Act was put forward on Friday by Massachusetts Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward Markey, as well Texas Representative Al Green, and is co-sponsored by 25 other House Democrats. Every day Americans are being caught in the crosshairs of racism and cancel culture.

Inflation? Nah, don’t worry about it. Temporary say Biden and his financial gurus.

UK politician says 'white privilege' divisive, unhelpful term. Ya think!

BLM and Democrat radical socialists blame U.S. sanctions for Cuba’s ills.

    Have a nice day!

Kamala Harris Bible reference on ‘love thy neighbor'

Harris’ quoting getting the Covid vaccination is analogous to the bible’s passage of ‘loving thy neighbor’ is indeed quite a stretch, especially considering her early position that she would not get any vaccine developed under the Trump administration.

Hypocrisy to those of us vaccinated early on and now being shamed into wearing a mask indoors to protect the unvaccinated – especially when being advised by the medical profession that a mask was no longer required for the vaccinated.

    An interesting perspective:

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/polit...?ocid=msedgntp

As politicos and media demonize each other, falsehoods and hate flourish, not brotherly love and unity. Politics at one time was known as the art of compromise. It has become the art of fabrication and outright lying. The media no longer reports the news, it biasedly creates the news. Both sides caring less about the best interests of Americans, but in garnering votes for control.

Riot investigation poll statistics and defund the police hypocrisy.

Spot on reports on riot investigations and the hypocrisy of defund the police’ political operatives.

Two-thirds want BLM riots probed, more than Jan. 6. Far more voters want the race riots of 2020 investigated than the Jan. 6 Capitol protests, including overwhelming majorities of blacks and Hispanics.

Biden’s CNN’S Town Hall interview tanks

Elections have consequences. What less can we expect from Biden in the next 3-1/2 years? Sad!

His position on inflation makes absolutely no sense to seniors receiving low Social Security benefits and limited savings, families on fixed incomes, and low income families. Instead of moderator Don Lemon referring to Biden as ' big guy' and trying to cover-his ass, he should have asked, 'WTF are you talking about'?

How incongruous to then have the Biden administration warn Cuban refugees, real refugees, they will be turned back should they attempt to seek asylum.

    Lee & Mark,

Thank you for that sobering perspective and I appreciate what you both have lived through and respect it.

Our generation, the baby boomers, must have done something wrong when we raised our very free thinking children who now have children of their own. The universities are deeply responsible in teaching this far-left thinking. The intolerance of the left draws a stark awareness that we cannot overlook anymore.

The "Squad" has such power right now and we can only hope and pray that our 2022 election gains Republican control of both the House & the Senate.

I watched clips of that townhall, amazing. I have a thought, are they putting Resident Biden out there more and more so that the American people see his decline? Harris, IMO, is more frightening ....

An intriguing consideration shortstuff, especially when considered through the lens of Pelosi's 2020 proposal concerning the 25th Amendment.

Frightening is reading the results of this poll

More than two-thirds of Democratic voters prefer President Biden as their 2024 nominee, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

To see a poll where 73% od Democrats would consider voting for Biden the bungler, Mr. gaffe in 2024 is frightening. What will this man be like in another three years? It shows that Democrats fear putting socialists in the top spot. And yet Biden is being pushed to the far left more and more.

Almost but not quite as disconcerting is reading that the survey also found 53 percent of registered Republican voters saying they'd consider casting their ballots for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 primary.

Falling into an endless abyss with no hope of recovery at this time! Both parties are lacking in inspiring candidates worthy of 2024 presidential election consideration.

Crime, chaos, intimidation, and public fear

While Democrats rightfully pursue to investigate the January 6th Capital ‘insurrection’, they and the mainstream media pay too little coverage to the continuing street violence and a weakening justice system that holds little respect for the ‘rule of law’, contributing to the escalating violence and growing public fear.

Criminals are now emboldened to spurn the law believing they are entitled to take what they want in plain sight. They are not afraid of the police who have been defunded, demonized, and hamstrung by government officials and prosecutors who appear to favor violent criminal best interests over that of the shooting victims and their families and property owners suffering loses.

    Woke - different perspectives

Biden, Democrats in disarray – six months in, Americans rejecting this radical agenda

The liberal media isn’t honest enough to acknowledge it, but it doesn’t take a genius to notice what’s happening with the Democrats right before our eyes.

Between Biden-created crises, messaging gaffes, ignoring public opinion, misreading mandates, and pushing a radical socialist agenda that’s wrong for America, it’s clear that this White House squandered its first six months in office and the Democrat Party is becoming mired in turmoil.

    A different ‘wake-up’ call

From someone a lot of people disagree with but is spot on in this show’s opening monologue - IMHO.

    Bill Maher
    JUN 7, 2021

    Why are Americans Sleeping?

"Real Time" host Bill Maher closed his show Friday night by sounding the alarm on China's growing dominance over the United States. Why are Americans sleeping?

"You're not going to win the battle for the 21st century if you are such silly people. And Americans are all silly people," Maher began the monologue, alluding to a "Lawrence of Arabia" quote.

Do you know who doesn't care that there's a stereotype of a Chinese man in a Dr. Seuss book? China," he said. "All 1.4 billion of them couldn't give a crouching tiger flying f--- because they're not silly people. If anything, they are as serious as a prison fight."

Maher acknowledged that China does "bad stuff" from the concentration camps of Uyghur Muslims to its treatment of Hong Kong. But he stressed, "There's got to be something between an authoritarian government that tells everyone what to do and a representative government that can't do anything at all." "In two generations, China has built 500 entire cities from scratch, moved the majority of their huge population from poverty to the middle class, and mostly cornered the market in 5G and pharmaceuticals. Oh, and they bought Africa," Maher said, pointing to China's global Silk Road infrastructure initiative.

He continued: "In China alone, they have 40,000 kilometers of high-speed rail. America has none. ... We've been having Infrastructure Week every week since 2009 but we never do anything. Half the country is having a never-ending woke competition deciding whether Mr. Potato Head has a d--- and the other half believes we have to stop the lizard people because they're eating babies. We are such silly people.

"Nothing ever moves in this impacted colon of a country. We see a problem and we ignore it, lie about it, fight about it with each other, endlessly litigate it, sunset clause it, kick it down the road, and then write a bill where a half-assed solution doesn't kick in for 10 years," Maher explained. Then the half-assed bill is forgotten. "China sees a problem and they fix it. They build a dam. We debate what to rename it."

The HBO star cited how it took "ten years" for a bus line in San Francisco to pass its environmental review and how it took "16 years" to build the Big Dig tunnel in Boston, comparing that to a 57-story skyscraper that China built in "19 days" and Beijing's Sanyuan Bridge, which was demolished and rebuilt in "43 hours."

"We binge-watch, they binge-build. When COVID hit Wuhan, the city built a quarantine center with 4,000 rooms in 10 days and they barely had to use it because they quickly arrested the rest of the disease," Maher said. "They were back to throwing raves in swimming pools while we were stuck at home surfing the dark web for black market Charmin. We're not losing to China, we LOST. The returns just haven't all come in yet.

They've made robots that check a kid's temperature and got their asses back in school. Most of our kids are still pretending to take Zoom classes while they watch TikTok and their brain cells fully commit ritual suicide." Our teachers unions are finding every single way to keep themselves on the payroll, but keep students out of the classrooms. WAKE UP AMERICANS!! That means ALL of YOU.

The January 6 Committee hearings are now underway with a House Select Committee which may have been unduly compromised by a perceived unprecedented politicization of the Committee.

Pelosi rejects Jordan, Banks for Jan. 6 committee
    Reference: https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5...an-6-committee

Now, listen to this November 29, 1963 telephone conversation between President Johnson and House Speaker John McCormack. Johnson wants to name Republican Congressman Gerald Ford of Michigan to his visionary Presidential Commission (Warren Commission), which will be charged to investigate the Kennedy assassination.

In that conversation, when Johnson mentions Ford's name, McCormack quickly observes that he must consult Charles Halleck, the House GOP leader regarding a possible Ford appointment.

Lyndon Johnson points out that if the appointment is to be to a Congressional Committee, McCormack is correct and the Speaker is indeed required to consult the GOP leader.

However, the President observes that the Ford appointment is to be to a Presidential Commission, not a House Committee, and therefore, such a requirement does not apply.

The point I am trying to make is that minority appointments to House Committees, select or otherwise, especially when concerning an issue of such importance, historically have been determined by the minority leadership, and are not the strict province of the majority leadership.

In the case of the January 6 Committee, Nancy Pelosi seemingly has reversed and disrespected a formerly very well-respected, longstanding House of Representatives procedure.

The relevant time frame on the tape is between 2:50 and 3:25:
