Free New York Supports the Right of Catholic
    Hospitals to Remain Open

Buffalo, New York. November 18, 2006, Free New York announced today that it supports the Catholic Health System’s position that the State may not order it to close any of its facilities (http://www.believecatholic.com/).

“In my view, ordering a Catholic hospital to close would be a clear violation of the First Amendment which protects the free exercise of religion,” James Ostrowski, Free NY’s President and a First Amendment attorney, said.

“Beyond that,” Ostrowski added, “the notion that no one can open or operate a hospital without the permission of some unelected bureaucrat in Albany, in this day and age, is a rank absurdity. The government has made a mess of health care in this country and this is a good time to begin to dismantle the Soviet-style regulatory bureaucracy that is strangling the health care industry, exploding its costs and damaging our economy.”

Ostrowski concluded, “Our forty year experiment with socializing medicine has failed. None of its goals has been achieved. Trillions have been spent with no noticeable impact on life expectancy and other major indicia of health. It’s time to move in a different direction—more consumer choice and more market competition.”

Free New York, Inc., is a non-profit, non-partisan New York State public policy research corporation. It has offices at 1313 Main St., Buffalo, New York, 14209.

Free New York is the research and policy arm of the Upstate tax revolt.

There were a lot of unstated goals achieved. The biggest of which is unlimited residual income for vested interests.

I think Milton Friedman had something to say about all that.

I hate Milton Friedman he as as much a unpatriotic american as the socialist liberals

I hate Milton Friedman he as as much a unpatriotic american as the socialist liberals. I also dont support Tom Friedman. Both wanted open borders and outsourcing of jobs.....just let the free markets in the world sort everything out. Except that the world does not have free markets. Every nation in the world is using their government to secure a growing middle class and access to markets for their companies. Except the US following Milton Friedman and Tom Friedman which wants to give away our jobs and foreign aid as part of State Department barter chips with foreign nations.

Dont even get me started with Natan Sharansky brainwashing George Bush into using our Treasuries and Military to democratize the middle east.

Ok, now to the point. The Catholic Hospital System already converted OLV to senior assisted living and support their proposal to simply reduce the number of beds they have in the system.

Kaleida is almost 2x as big as the Catholic system so it shouldnt be suprising that they should carry a disproportionate burden.

Also I would rather keep Millard Fillmore open and close the Womens and Childrens Hospital. Buffalo has such an aging population that all the hospitals could easily add assisted living to replace their hospital beds.

Milton Friedman has as much in common with the socialist liberals as you have in common with Albert Einstein.

Milton Friedman's position was that even if other countries were protectionist, we should support free trade unilaterally.

In short, protectionism hurts one’s own economy. Just because France is hurting their economy doesn't mean we should also. That's called shooting yourself in the foot.

I happen to agree with him and I apply the same analysis to corporate welfare. It's bad and just because Cleveland does it is no reason why we should.

So as Japan and China undervalue their currency to steal our industries

So as Japan and China undervalue their currency to steal our industries thru unfair trade practices....your ok with that because its free trade.

So as other countries like china and india ignore copyright and patent law to build up their businesses your ok with that. Do I need to tell you that it took Japan almost 40 years to approve the patent for the microchip but your ok with that because its free trade.

So does Israel really need $10 billion in foreign aid. Does any nation really need foreign aid. Isnt that like global welfare?

Sorry I dont buy it at all and I think the jewish intelligentsia like Milton Friedman and Tom Friedman and the rest are unpatriotic traitors. You wont catch me taking away unemployment insurance from someone who just got layed off or social security from any of our seniors.

I will agree with you that there needs to be less government. I would even abolish the department of education, urban renewal, municipal housing, and a few others but in many ways we differ.

You have to take this attitude out of the equation if you want to enter into serious debate. Every one of your posts alludes to a jewish conspiracy. It's ridiculous considering the fact that Jews are an extreme minority in this country and even more so on a global scale.

Its not conspiracy. Its just that jews value achievement and education

Its not conspiracy. Its just that jews value achievement and education which is wonderful. I applaud them and admire them for it.

Its those values of achievement and education that put greenspan in the Treasury, that make them excell in research, the professions, entrepreneurship and business, etc.

However, with all achievement comes power and influence and temptation. Im just saying that if you want to be an informed and independent thinker then you have to understand motivations, interconnections, power, position, etc.

For some reason people have no hesitation to believe that the chinese communist government routinely asks those of chinese decent for government and commercial secrets and some use their power and position to give them. Yet we are not allowed critical thinking when it comes to the jewish community or the muslim community. Its politically incorrect and it comprises our country.

If you cannot accept this then I probably cannot respect much of your opinion because its obviously that political correctness censors your ability to be a good parent or a good citizen.

The only reason AIPAC is powerful is because people have been deluded into thinking we need to sink foreign aid into Israel to maintain a presence to protect our oil interests.

It's all BS. I'd pull Israeli and all other subsidies in a heartbeat if I had a say.

You are making a point of finding foreign scapegoats when the problem is right here with a system that is set up to accept legal bribery. A system called "government".

oh is that the only reason.

oh is that the only reason.

In President Bushs state of the union speach he said that Britain gave him intelligence that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Do you know where Britain got that information from. Britain got it from Israel. There is no conflict of interest that Israel might have given that information of weapons of mass destruction so we might fight a proxy war with our money and troops to secure Israels borders.

Also its also not a cooincidence that a man called Natan Sharansky was a favored author and met with President Bush prior to the Iraq war convincing him that only total democratization of the middle east by the US could lead to peace.

This is power, this is influence, this is fact.
