i go with the $.29/lb turkey from wegmans. I deep fry it and it turns out perfect every time.
I'm putting together my menu for Thanksgiving- most of the stuff is bought already- and I'm wondering what favorites SUWNY members have.
Anybody try those $3/pound turkeys from Wegmans?
Rolls- what kind do you like?
Desserts- unique pies, besides apple, pumpkin, etc?
Anything else that sticks out as something you really like?
Alton Brown has an interesting recipe for 'brined' turkey that looks interesting. I'm gonna give this a try. Interesting technique w/the roasting.

anyone know where I can buy sage sausage?Originally Posted by colossus27
OceanSpray sells real cranberries in a bag. Boil them yourself and have fun listening to them pop. Add as much sugar as you like. It's much better than the canned. Very easy, too.

Tops and Wegmans carry the Bob Evans sage sausage in the roll. Mom uses it for her stuffing and also in meatloaf.

We have a new tradition of serving pumpkin curry soup as a side dish.

Sounds excellent- I just can't find the time to do soup in there too! I want to plate some desserts this year- presentation will eat up lots of time. Maple-caramel "built into" vanilla-ice cream pyramids, with apple pie on a sauce of mandarin orange, pomegranites, and cream. If I 'break' the maple caramel, I'll make maple whipped cream instead and make pyramids out of that. And put one of those silly sugar-igloos around it or something!Originally Posted by Achbek1

LOVE cranberries. The cranberry-orange bread recipe on the Ocean Spray bag is delicioso. Also, love them in the stuffing. (That's supposed to be an angry cranberry)Originally Posted by Stevenco

You'd be mad if someone tried to boil you and make you pop, too.

But I think I'll stick with the peanut butter and jelly line.

I also thought Colussus was a man.
BTW never double-cross a woman at Wegman's with cranberry juice in her cart; not a good idea - you're liable to get killed.
