King to decree that Halloween is cancelled this year in WNY

so according to WKBW, it looks like King Joel is considering "not allowing trick or treating"

I get the possible safety issues, but is that even legal?

If it is, what the hell has this world come to, that we have lame duck self-important politicans "cancelling Halloween"

what's next: "we're concerned that people might get hurt coming out to the polls to vote?"

If it's safe for kids to walk around at bus stops in the PITCH BLACK at 6:30 am, then I say let them trick or treat as well

king Joel stated that although he has to authority to do it he wont. give me a brake the guy wants use to think he is doing us a favor by letting us keep halloween. then he adds that it is up to the towns to rule on it. if you stretch it they cant touch halloween. satanism and witch craft are religions so they cant make any ruling to govern a religious holiday. separation of church and state means any religion not just Christianity

I don't think many kids will pay attention to him. I noticed The stores haven't either. They are still selling candy.
Is there sales tax on candy?
It looks like the trick is in his new budget and the treat is he will be gone at the end of next year.

King Joel's "graciousness" in allowing Halloween to go forward probably has something to do with somebody informing him that he can't tell the towns what to do -- unless he's going to declare a state of emergency or something and impose a curfew. Joel doesn't bother with facts until they turn around and bite him in the azz -- then he blusters like the buffoon he is.
