    Hypocrisy- thy name is California

Funny, I didn't see the State force a reduction in SUV sales, or take actions to reduce vehicle use. Instead, they put traffic lights at on-ramps and hope this silly litigation will solve all their problems.

Take heed- if CA wins this pile o' crap lawsuit- expect, at least, an out of court settlement a la Erin Brockovich to save costs- we'll all pay for this one too.

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - California filed a global warming lawsuit on Wednesday against Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., Toyota Motor Corp. and three other automakers, charging that greenhouse gases from their vehicles have cost the state millions of dollars.

State Attorney General Bill Lockyer said the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Northern California was the first of its kind to seek to hold manufacturers liable for the damages caused by their vehicles' emissions.

The lawsuit also names Chrysler Motors Corp., the U.S. arm of Germany's DaimlerChrysler, and the North American units of Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. Ltd..

Who filed the global warming suit after the ice age?

Why not also sue all the city planners in California also for designing environments where autos are a necessity?

Actually, the automakers should stop selling cars in Calf. Problem solved.

I'd like to turn this on its head locally, and have the people sue the gov't to force them to time the traffic lights so that we aren't stopped at every one, ala Elmwood, Delaware, Washington and on and on. That would certainly cut down on pollution.

You would be amazed at how much fuel traffic jams waste. California is the worst offender...I wasn't kidding when I said they've got traffic lights at on-ramps.

Gee I wonder how many of those filing suit own cars?
If emmisions from SUV's are bad, then so are all emmisions from all auto's and we need to have all combustion engines made illegal. There has to be a zero tolerance.
This suit will go to the surpreme court in the end and be struck down. If it even makes it that far. This lawsuit must be a political good feeling suit to generate votes in any up coming election for the DA.
The next suit should be filed against all dairy and beef farmers for the methane gas the bovine are pouring into the atmosphere giving further cause to greenhouse gas and global warming.
Here is even a better idea, why not just eliminate all human life on the planet and problemed solved. Well, solved for those who actually believe the lies from, libs and eco-alarmists, that man causes global warming.
Oh! The sun! We also need to put out the sun somehow. For it is the heat of the sun that has also added to earths problems. Without heat you can not have warming. Not even on a global scale.
More meaningless lawsuits. Adding to the cost of living and creating more poor. All in the name of a lie known as "Global Warming".

No, it'll end up being an out of court settlement, some idiot will make a fictional movie about the Evil system, and how a vapid whore like Erin Brockovich kept America safe from global warming.

The script will leave out the part about her new CO2-spewing Ferrari F50 and the $750,000 she spent remodeling her home.

Uh, this is about so-called 'global warming', though if any state could find a way to make Diesel particulates into a hazmat, those idiots could do it. In California, sand is a hazmat.

Funny you mention the schoolbuses...when I was driving to an emissions test in Annapolis, I wsas stuck behind a schoolbus for 5-odd miles, that dumped so much oil on my car the windshield it left visible smudges.

They need to take a page from the war on drugs.

First, they need to take down the car kingpins.

Then, they need to dry up demand.

The suit should be refiled to name as a defendant every car owner in California.

Yeah, they should take a page from the war on drugs. Then the CIA can run 50-100 billion dollars in car profits, anually.
