Rochester got 50m for Transportation! What about Buffalos Light Rail?

Im getting really fed up with Buffalo.

I just heard that Rochester is getting 50,000,000 for a new performing arts center, community college center downtown and Bus Terminal. Yes, that is right they are using transportation dollars to rebuild an entire city block downtown.

Buffalo is fighting over ECC downtown
Buffalo is still waiting for Bass Pro and the Multi-modal Station
In Short Buffalo is still waiting and fighting.

Why isnt anyone asking for Buffalos Light Rail to be extended to the Airport?
Why isnt anyone asking for Buffalos Light Rail to be extended to Niagara Falls so people can arrive in Buffalo via air, rail, water (boats or future cruise ships), or highway and visit both sites in Buffalo and Niagara Falls.

Extending Buffalos Light Rail would create alot of construction jobs over many years and create alot of synergy for local businesses and communities.

Isnt there anyone in this community with some power and influence that can make this happen? Are there any leaders in Buffalo who want to invest in its future.

There's a lot of things going on in Buffalo you may not be aware of. Besides ECC, Geico, and BassPro there are many plans for Buffalo. Some have already started, some have funding for engineering studies and planning. Some are still just in discussion and aren't ready for budgeting yet.

- redesign Main St to return vehicular traffic alongside the Metro
- redesign the Scajaqueda Exprsswy (198) into a parkway
- redesign and clean up the streets surrounding the airport.
- replace the Peace Bridge with a larger signature bridge "twin" the current bridge.
- consider renovating Front Park after the Peace Bridge work is done.
- build a casino in Buffalo, or another one in Niagara Falls
- build a new larger convention center
- return the original radiating street grid to downtown
- return the current one-way streets to two-way for easier driving
- redevelop the waterfront (outter harbor and inner harbor)
- replace the skyway with a tunnel or more usable bridge
- redevelop the Cobblestone district by the waterfront
- redesign LaSalle Park with more interesting layout and more attractions.
- beautify the 190 freeway along downtown
- beautify the Kensington Exprsswy (33) downtown
- build a new Court House on Niagara Square
- the BassPro project also includes an Intermodal Hub to connect the light rail with amtrack train services.
- renovate Shea's Auditorium (half-done)
- renovate the Richardson Complex
- create a new beach on the waterfront (done)
- create a bike path / boardwalk along the waterfront (done)
- create a BioInfomatics Research Hub downtown (in progress)

Except for ECC and Geico (which is in Amherst). what is new about all those things that are being studied. They have all been tossed around for years.
Jack Quinn got millions for inner harbor development and had to threaten to take it back and give it to Dunkirk before the city did anything but "studies".
The outer harbor sat vacant for years until Brian Higgins got elected to the state assembly and had the resources to get something done.
Those ideas never seem to get going with the city and county leadership. Joel and Tony are to busy reinventing goverment to get busy on the real issues that they could do something about. Things that really would improve the quality of life here.
