    Thinking of moving to Kenmore....

My wife and I are seriously thinking about moving to Kenmore in the near future. She is originally from there, but we are currently living in Maryland, north of Washington D.C. We currently have a 1.5 year old son and possibly another on the way. What do you guys think? Is Kenmore a kid friendly town? I'd like to believe it is a family town, but I only get up there twice a year (4th of July and Christmas). I currently work as a Network Engineer for an IT company down here and I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on the IT market up there as well?

    Thanks!

High property taxes. You pay for the highly overrated government schools.

    Consider North Buffalo.

what is your priority? Lot of places in the city if you like city living and some not too nice.. Are schools more a priority? than maybe the burbs would be better. If you want land, then you need to move further out.

Home prices are among some of the best in the country, now taxes, that's another story ......

As far as your job, I am not qualified to answer that, but I am sure that others will chime in ...

    good luck with your decision.

Since you have kids, unless you know for sure you will be paying for private school anyway, I wouldn't choose a town to live in without first consulting the Business First of Buffalo website for their rankings of school districts.

Home prices are very attactive in the WNY area and one of many reasons why we're thinking of making a move. We currently live in the burbs in Maryland and we liked the idea of Kenmore because its not too far out of the city and close to her family. We are very familiar with the school systems in and around Buffalo as well and we have narrowed it down to a few private schools.

What exactly is the town(city?) of Kenmore tax rate for residential housing? Has anyone broken down a list of various city and town taxes in Erie County vs. Erie County taxes and NY State taxes?
Or have you a link to a list of that info??

    Erie County school tax rates.

    County tax rates.

All towns don't assess at the same rate. So the tax rate may seem extremely high in towns whose assessment rate is very low.

    Erie County equalization rates-

Also, there was a frontpage article comparing some of the county's towns.

Bud - I sent you a PM with a good recruiter.

You should check out Infotech Niagara for good I.T. connection.

And, I agree that, if you're going to be sending the kids to private schools, you should consider North Buffalo instead of Kenmore.

If interested, federal government has many IT job openings in this area... see USA jobs and search by using New York category..
