Was there any wording in the contracts about

A little while ago exercise equipment was donated to our Police Department for their use !
They also got a shooting range to target shoot in ?

Questions were raised as far as "when and where will they work out/exercise" ?

As well as injuries, It could be a liability - at the vary least a waiver should be signed to hold harmless the Department and Town should a injury occur.

Also a Department memo/notice that work outs should not occur on Town Time - same with shooting practice. Has either happened ?

Its a shame the Department Heads are creating these tax funded issues. We didn't have all these questions in the past - now a days it seems personal perks are the issue compared to the right to work as in days past.

Yes, our police deserve safe and clean work conditions and proper equipment. But where is this going - the taxpayers are constantly being told the Politicians are doing the best they can to hold the line on spending. In this case the equipment was donated - but that actually opens the door to other issues/considerations !

Should tax funded employees get paid to exercise and target practice?
    - should tax funded employees get picked up for work and driven home each day?
    - should tax funded employees get a private work out area paid for by tax payers while on duty ?

    What do you think ?

    What's next
    - Parks and Recreation/Town Highway Department might want to use the shooting range
    - maybe they too want to work out
    - will the Chief allow them to use the Cops facilities
    - will tax payers fund separate recreational areas for other tax funded employees ?

Just wondering what happened about all this ?

How do you know they are just at target practice or was it actually regular qualification which you would assume is a department mandate. Do you have any info to cover such a claim? Please provide any data. It would be interesting.

This would not relieve liability from the Town just shift it. Often it is better to have it considered work related because then the injured person is limited to economic damages whereas if it is considered non-work related then the suit can be made for economic and non-economic damages.

Did you get paid to train on unplugging toilets? If a cop is not trained to shoot then that opens a huge liability to the town if he had to use his gun. This is a boring post and I am the new guy. You just repeated yourself. Great work.

Professional question, what is the best method for getting a hairball out that is stuck in the town hall pipes???

    Vote him out haha

Ok - so I guess theres no answer to:

Also a Department memo/notice that work outs should not occur on Town Time - same with shooting practice.

    Has either happened ?

So, obviously you cant answer that - anyone else ever heard about any guidelines or rules concerning the use of work out equipment or gun range for our Police Department ?

    Thanks
