    Israel Preparing Lebanon Ground Offensive

BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) -- Pitched battles raged between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters on the border Thursday, and Israel warned hundreds of thousands of people to flee southern Lebanon "immediately," preparing for a likely ground offensive to set up a buffer zone.

U.N. chief Kofi Annan warned of a humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and called for an immediate cease-fire, even as he admitted "serious obstacles" stand in the way of even easing the violence. Annan denounced Israel for "excessive use of force" and Hezbollah for holding "an entire nation hostage" with its rocket attacks and snatching of two Israeli soldiers last week.

As the death toll rose to 330 in Lebanon, as well as at least 32 Israelis, Lebanese streamed north into the capital and other regions, crowding into schools, relatives' homes or hotels. Taxi drivers in the south were charging up to $400 per person for rides to Beirut - more than 40 times the usual price. In remote villages of the south, cut off by strikes, residents made their way out over the mountains by foot.

People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.

What exactly is the proper amount of force to use when responding to a group that has, in the words of Kofi Annan, held "an entire nation hostage"?
Remain calm!! But run for your lives if necessary!

My point, goodie, is there is a certain point at which it becomes not only futile, but very dangerous to meddle around or take sides. This is now beyond Condoleeza Rice's attempt at peace making, particularly when we have placed ourselves on one side, by aiding and abetting the Israelis with weapons. If we had aided both sides with staples for survival, equally, such as food, water, or whatever needed in that category, we could have been considered equananimous.

I have seen a thread like that!

    speaker?
Are you kidding with this “support all sides’ ” diplomacy? Even support the side of our enemy?
We aid and abet our allies?
What planet of diplomacy did you study on?
We should have left all of England, Europe, Africa and the South Pacific to just fall into communist and dictatorship rule?

And of course Condi could in no way do a better job on Mid East diplomacy than that of Jimmy Carter, Warren Christopher, Billy Clinton and MYdam Albright?

    WOW? No really WOW!

That is another fine exaple of why the Democrat party and the left in this country have no buisness in power.
