The Seneca Nation of Indians plans to make a “major announcement” Friday afternoon outside the Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino.
President Maurice A. John, Sr. will be joined by Nation officials and area elected and business leaders for the announcement at 3 p.m. outside the casino located at Michigan Avenue and Perry Street.
The casino is walking distance to the new stadium site and walking distance to the new proposed train station/CanalSide/HarborCenter/FNC....etc....

Back to hotels.....
I know they are building them but what target audience are they filling rooms with?
Do people travel to see the sabres and stay over night?
Are they booking more conventions?
Is tourism up for the city of Buffalo?

Can you remove the non hotel posts?
I think they are counting on several types of visitors. Especially if they build a new Amtrak station at CanalSide. The Maple Leaf line on Amtrak puts people in Toronto 2hrs from Buffalo and people in Rochester 90 minutes. That's a lot of people going to a location with a lot to do.
Honestly, this is what real cities do. They build things on top of things and build some more. For this area of the city, as it relates to development, Buffalo has been doing very well.

I caught this back in July.
Underground Amtrak station at Canalside is envisioned to replace current Exchange Street site
http://www.buffalonews.com/feed/unde...-site-20150716A small brick train station under an elevated highway has been downtown Buffalo’s welcome mat to Amtrak riders for decades.
Someday, it could be Canalside.
The Brown administration and Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. say they are committed to putting a new train station underground, below an undeveloped parcel north of the canal.

Yes!!!
Unless some idiots get their way and try to force the new station to be at the Central Terminal. Just ask where would you want someone from Toronto or Rochester getting off on a Friday afternoon.....

The Central Terminal is a cool building but the rehab cost and location doesn't seem like it would help the city that much. I wonder why it was built where it was versus in the city

It was a business decision how could it be wrong?
Buffalo Central TerminalThe New York Central Railroad (NYC) had two stations in Buffalo in the early 20th Century: the Exchange Street Station and the Terrace Station. Both of these downtown stations were old—Exchange Street dated to before the American Civil War—and were plagued with downtown congestion.
NYC decided to build the new Buffalo Central Terminal 2.5 miles (4.0 km) to the east, in order to relieve both rail and grade crossing congestion and to be more conveniently located for trains not terminating in Buffalo. A roomier area would also ease the transfer of sleeping cars between trains. Furthermore, Buffalo was a quickly growing city at the time, and it was believed that before long Central Terminal's area would become closer to the center of a sprawing metropolis of 1.5 million people. The city was not so sure, but planning was well underway in 1924, despite the lack of an agreement at the time.
supposedly there are tunnels between the central terminal and the williams street post office for moving mail back and forth - I wonder what is in the tunnels now - undelivered mail?
those tunnels are empty yet secured. they are also structurally unsafe

Boy was I wrong......
Just a small addition. Would hardly call it 'major'.....
