Wizig pays fine, ends real estate activity here

When the envelope containing Scott Wizig's $20,000 check is opened Monday, the most prosecuted landlord in Buffalo history will be just that - history - his local lawyer said Friday.

Attorney Thomas J. Eoannou said he informed City Housing Prosecutor Gregory A. Heeb he put that check satisfying the $20,000 fine "in the mail" Friday.
"The Wizig era here is over," Eoannou said of the property invester who in 2000 began acquiring more than 300 dilapidated Buffalo properties at auction. The purchases generated hope he would revitalize the buildings, but the Houston-based businessman ended up as the most prosecuted landlord in Buffalo history.

People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.
