LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) — Emergency crews and first responders were on the scene of a potentially dangerous emergency landing Wednesday afternoon.

Police released photos to their Facebook page showing a plane on its nose about 300 yards past the runway near the Lancaster Airport. Police say engine failure took the plane down just after it lifted off at 3:15 p.m.

Authorities say the pilot had minor injuries but did not need to go to the hospital.

They should make that runway longer. He wouldn't have ended up in the grass then.

Wasn't the new runway extended to 3,200 feet from the old runway of 2,700 feet? What do you want to take it up to 5,000 feet so jet aircraft can land; which they already can but with no insurance coverage?

And as this was an engine failure and a crash landing, what is really your point?
