I think everyone could get behind this. At least those who pay tax dollars.

Essential being police and fire only!

I can't disagree, but . . . the whining about Bflo PD is beating a dead horse. People have complained about their salaries, for years. They work a lot of overtime! The city government has mandated a certain staffing level and the PD must maintain it.

There is nothing in statute or regulation that mandates staffing levels of state police, however, they have tons of overtime! Local cops are half the price of troopers. I know this is hard to believe . . . but local cops are just as well trained as the state police. The state should split the difference and give half the state police budget money to the local police to do local policing. Keep the state police doing highway patrol, only.

Could it be that the overtaxed taxpayers are fed up with the salaries and benefits that the so called public servants are receiving. Especially those that claim they are not giving a 100% effort on the job.

Thanks. Im not sure why SP gets a pass when their pay is much higher. They write speeders for crying out loud. Their overtime regularly brings them over 150k. Oh well people can keep blaming BPD for their lousy lot in life.

You have to admit though, that many times SP's job can be much more dangerous considering their back up is usually at least 10-15 minutes away, even up to 35-40 minutes in the Adirondacks.

yeah, lots of cop killers in the Adirondacks....

I have lived in the ADKS for many years of my adult life, and the idea of crime up there is a college kid pissing in someone's front yard.

BTW, the safest place a person can be is in the woods.

I don't think anyone here was anti-cop. There were people here who were anti "Rig the system" for maximum questionable pension padding and stuff though.
