    State tax receipts rise

A surge in personal income tax collections by New York state continues.

State Comptroller Alan Hevesi said that for the first two months of the 2006-07 fiscal year, personal income tax receipts increased by $1.3 billion or just under 25 percent over the corresponding two months of the last fiscal year. That amount included $500 million in income taxes that were prepaid for the 2006-07 fiscal year.

Hevesi said business tax collections were up by 3.4 percent.
