There's a chain link fence to hold the asbestos in.
are they going to leave the silos 1/2 demolished ? I would think they'll get a few more misters going to keep it on the ground. But in the end will continue the demolition. Yea the EPA may fine the Senecas, but do they really care ? They'll make up whatever fine in no time. I want to see a casino go up as quickly as possible.
There's a chain link fence to hold the asbestos in.
If they find out that the Senecas have been releasing Asbestos into the air and surrounding neighborhoods, they will be looking at some serious health and safety lawsuits from downtown residents, along with additional cleanup of surrounding areas.
I beleive the Senecas are smart enough to take the asbestos into concideration prior to demolition.
My quess would be that the air quality is fine and that the job will continue as scheduled.
We where supposed to hear info about the asbestos yesterday and nothing has been released to the press that i have heard. Which should a be sign that all is well. If it where not Joel would have made a beeline to the media.
They have to have this thing open by December 9, I believe. Should be fun watching speedy construction!
Yeah, but don't forget it's all legalities. They have to have the casino operational, but not necessarily their office building or the landscaping, etc. They just need to prioritize what is required by December and everything else can be completed whenever.Originally Posted by therising
On the other hand, if they get more environmental lawsuits on top of existing lawsuits it will slow them down (if not shut them down!)
As far as asbestos testing and announcements... did the senecas ever restart the demolitions? The EPA was waiting for them to restart (they had stopped as soon as the EPA arrived)

Today, from the 190, it looked like more of it is gone.
on to the next challege.
I was in one of the watering holes less than a quarter mile from the site when it was annonced on the news. everybody in the Bar, most of who were from the ward, cheered and applauded.
Who said the neighbors don't want a casino?
"If you want to know what God thinks of money just look at the people he gave it to."
By the way, what happened to biker? I miss the old coot.
Who says they want cancer. That's probably why they cheered when they announced no asbestos.Originally Posted by citymouse

Umm not to take sides or anything as I still havent come down pro or anti but from a middle of the road guy it seems to me the only ones complaing are people that dont live in that hood.
If they dont care why is everyone else trying to tell them whats best for them?
People who wonder if the glass is half empty or full miss the point. The glass is refillable.
not sure if you're talking about Asbestos or Casino?
The asbestos would only impact those neighborhoods. true. But I think it worth everyone's concern to make sure they're safe.
If you're talking about the casino... it's not a neighborhood issue, it's a city issue. And the city businesses that will have to compete with the subsidized Senecas that don't pay taxes, don't ban smoking, don't charge hotel fees, etc while everyone else if required to do so by the state.
