On Friday afternoon the Bills announced that they have terminated the contract of offensive lineman Bennie Anderson. Anderson, who started 15 of 16 games for the Bills last season was going to face strong competition from free agent signee Tutan Reyes as well as second-year player Duke Preston.
Anderson who at 345 pounds is known more as a road grader type of lineman may have also been less of a fit in Buffalo's new offensive system. With the free agent signings of Reyes and center Melvin Fowler it appeared as though the Bills were focused on improving the athleticism of their offensive line.

Buffalo also waived linebacker Greg Carothers and undrafted rookie free agent defensive end Matthew Rice. The writing was likely on the wall for both players.

With the acquisition of LB Courtney Watson in the trade with New Orleans earlier this week and Buffalo's signing of NFL Europe DE Joshua Cooper it was apparent that the team was still looking to improve the positions manned by Carothers and Rice.
