Reynolds screws Western New York AGAIN!

I brought this over from the Buffalo Snooze. Tell me again why we should vote for this ba$tard? He's nothing but a rubber-stamp for Bush and Rove.
You'll notice that all the areas that voted Democrat got their funding cut, while Republican enclaves like Omaha got more.

Reynolds votes against restoring security funds

WASHINGTON - Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds broke with House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King and two other state Republicans who wanted to restore cuts in aid to first responders in New York and other urban centers.
The Clarence Republican voted against a proposed $750 million increase in grants the same the day officials from Erie and Niagara counties protested the Bush administration's plan to cut terrorism defense aid to the region by 50 percent.

The aid plan lost, 207-191, Tuesday night - just days after Canadian authorities arrested 17 alleged terrorists for plotting violence in Fort Erie, Toronto and other locales in Ontario.

Defeated was a motion by Rep. Nita Lowey, R-Westchester, to restore Homeland Security funding cuts and ensure that no urban area would receive less money this year than it did last year.

Reynolds declined to comment directly on the vote.

His spokesman, Lawrence D. Platt, said Reynolds "is extremely concerned about the cut in Homeland Security funding for the Buffalo Niagara region and will continue to work with the entire New York delegation to look for options."

However, Lowey's motion to restore the funding may be the last chance the House has this year to protect high-risk urban areas against losing aid.

The Senate hasn't finished work on Homeland Security appropriations. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, D-N.Y., said that, "as we have in the past, we'll be looking at all options to ensure adequate funding."

Voting with Lowey were three New York Republicans including King, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee; John E. Sweeney, Clifton Park, who is a member of the House GOP Steering Committee; and Vito Fossella of Staten Island.

Democrats Brian Higgins of Buffalo and Louise M. Slaughter of Fairport supported Lowey's motion. Rep. John R. "Randy" Kuhl, R-Hammondsport, opposed the motion.

Akron industrialist Jack Davis, a Democrat challenging Reynolds' re-election this year, issued the following statement: "Tom Reynolds' vote against adequate funding for Homeland Security makes the people of Western New York less safe. . . . It may help his House leadership colleagues or the Bush administration, but it doesn't help us."

Reynolds first priority is the Republican Party, ironically, every time he runs for re-election, the News runs a story about how influential Reynolds is and how we should all be proud and grateful that he has so much clout, as this will benefit the region...Bah, humbug!

Buffy, permit me to disagree. His first priority is to the people that voted him into office. As are his second, third and fourth priorities.
People should wake up to the fact that Reynolds' own priorities have been for the betterment of Thomas M. Reynolds. If that means sucking up to Bush and the NeoCon Crowd, he'll happily do it.
Maybe he should get into line next November behind all those other unemployed folks from Western New York.
