    Saying Goodbye to The Continental

Business suits and punks. Mohawks and tattoos. All were welcome at Buffalo's legendary nightclub The Continental.

The infamous bar closed almost five years ago, but the building has remained until now.

It's being demolished to make way for a new $19 million hotel.

"It's incredibly sad," said Jennifer Clark. She came to downtown Buffalo on Thursday afternoon to say goodbye to the club and share some fond memories.

"There are some other clubs that are fun to go to, but I don't think anyone who ever went here will ever tell you there's another place that had the same kind of magic," said Clark, who met her husband at The Continental seven years ago.

Demolition on the building is expected to start in the next few days.

Easily the most unassuming venue I've ever had the privilege of frequenting. A little Evil Rufus Kay went a long way.

I remember that being one of the first bars i could get into downtown when i was 16/17. We use to go see bands on hardcore bands on saturdays.

Well, it's a hell of alot cleaner (spotless most of the time) and alot safer: Club Diablo (http://clubdiablo.com/). It's even owned and run by the Cont's most (im)famous bouncer: Jesse Zuefle. Check it out sometime. He even has Cont reunion nites where past Cont DJ's come and spin. The Fems have even give him an exclusive on the Xmas Show they always had at the Cont.

Jenn Parker. Yes, and at Brick Bar too. She's a very good friend of mine.

The Continental had great music back in the day, but boy was that place a sh*thole!

I tried Diablo a few years back when I was in town and found the 80's retro/New Wave/Industrial/Goth night to be pretty good. Now it looks like its all heavy metal and biker stuff, which I'm not into.

The music and acts change, check out their site or Artvoice to see what is going on. Halloween is absolutely outrageous there! There are even art shows at different times.
