    Giambra lawsuit

So the court dismissed Giambra's idiot lawsuit trying to stop the new building at ECC. There's a surprise. I wonder if there's another community in NYS that has such a bunch of dopey " community leaders"?

You only get bad leaders when you have bad constituents. Giambra is not by himself. Joseph Golombek Jr. was on the papers filed and he is currently in office.

Beyond the 'face' of this idea, you still have idiots in the city who think there is some sort of synergy to be had between a community college and a medical campus. About the only synergy between ECC and places like Roswell Park is the for office administration and medical billing work. Then you have the people who want to use builds like this as building blocks for downtown because downtown does not have enough construction on it's own merits.

Anyways...it's going to be a nice building on the North Campus.

The reason that "regionalism" does NOT get anywhere in Erie County is because jackasses like Giambra, Golombek, Gaughan, the editors and some writers at the Buffalo Snooze, etc, and their supporters' version of "regionalism" means forcing every single institution, attraction, and business in Erie County to be located in the city of Buffalo, and as close as possible to downtown. If they had their way, I don't doubt that they'd try to force everybody to live in the city as well. In order for regionalism to be effective, the communities involved have to cooperate and compromise. The idea that Buffalo should cooperate or compromise with its neighboring municipalities just does NOT compute with these idiots. Their modus operandus is that Buffalo has to get/have everything while the rest of the county has to help pay for it or they'll file a lawsuit.

Most students who attend ECC attend the North Campus. The City Campus is the smallest campus in part because the city's population only makes about 28% of the county's population these days, and not many suburban students opt to take classes downtown. The other part is that many students who live in Buffalo on the West Side as well as those who live in North Buffalo and the University District prefer to attend ECC North rather than the Downtown Campus.

You and I disagree on many things but we have always been on the same page for this. This really has little to do with students or making community college in Erie County better. It's about a brand new building being constructed with public money and people in Buffalo want it to be done in Buffalo because they have such trouble getting private stuff built.

I see the Down Town Campus suffering because of a lack of parking. There's not enough available real-estate to expand it properly.

When Roswell and the BGH want to expand - they buy out neighborhoods one block at a time - subsidized by tax dollars.

and why did the city go down hill over the years.. POLITICIANS they ruined it over the past 40 years why did everything and everyone leave. As for the media people on tv and radio jump up and down over a ditch that has running water with turds in it. Honest graft huh.

That is rather tacky. To build something knowing you can profit on the parking. Not just profit but profit quite well.

There's parking but you have to pay for it. College kids will only do that if the charge is a fee paid to the college once a semester (like tuition) for what's considered a safe parking area (ie, fenced and limited to students/faculty/staff). They are not going to park in private lots and pay daily or monthly, and they are not going to park on the streets after dark in Buffalo, especially if they're suburban kids. Not only are suburban kids not taking a bus if they can avoid it, but most adult students with jobs and families are not going to be busing it either.

I think Paladino owns the majority of parking in downtown Buffalo. He would be a major profit-maker if the stadium was built downtown.

GREED...the main ingredient motivating the rebuild of Buffalo. When its all said and done..only a few developers...with hefty political
donations will come out on top/...meanwhile the taxpaying peons are dazzled and B.S'd blindly...uh...the same ones who vote for the same politicians over and over again!
