West Seneca has a Board of Ethics -

Its been pointed out that a Lancaster Town Councilman who wanted to be a Lancaster Judge was also censured while acting as a Lawyer.

He was involved in a Company called Aurora Gold, a collections agency that was investigated and shut down after multiple legal complaints were filed.
He was also involved in past building violations in Lancaster - yet he remains on the Town Board.

Lancaster's Government is becoming some what of a joke. Every time some nearby Town or local Government is sited for doing something under handed - making back door deals - or getting caught handing out tax funded patronage - they are quickly compared to Lancaster's Town Hall History of behaviors.

    Sad !

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the West Seneca thread Another person posted, "At least, the West Seneca town board has some ethics" - In the Town of Lancaster, we have a censured attorney sitting as a town councilman who had the balls to run as town justice after his censuring. The voters turned him away. He's up for re-election in his council seat this year. The voters will probably re-elect the unethical dwarf

The West Seneca Bee Reported : "Additionally, it was announced that William Bond, town prosecutor, would be resigning as well. Bond had been appointed to the position at the Jan. 5 reorganization meeting.

“Mr. Bond, apparently, about 20 years ago, was censured for giving a client a loan, and according to the ruling by the appellate division, they understood his reason for doing it, trying to help somebody, but it was clearly a violation of the ethics,” Hart said.

Bond was asked to resign after the matter was brought to the board’s attention. Hart said the board requested the resignation and Bond did so willingly." end quote.

The same attorney who is a council member and boned his good friend Bob Thill?

The guy that calls incumbent ZBA member Thill and tells him that he supports his reappointment to the ZBA but can't get the others to go along?

But when Supervisor Fudoli proposed an amended motion to remove the name of the individual who was appointed in Thill's position and to reappoint Thill, no second to the motion was forthcoming.

Strangely had Aquino seconded such motion, Fudoli was already on board and councilman Ruffino voted no to the original resolution. It would have been interesting to see what Ruffino would have done. He stated in the media that he didn't second Fudoli's motion because he knew the votes weren't there. That is a weak reply and/or position and shows lack of leadership.

4248, that West Seneca Ethics committee found that the Zoning board chair accepting Super bowl tickets wasn't a violation of receiving gifts above $75. The Bee article doesn't state who the ticket donor was.

Clarke also questioned the board on the recommendation of the Ethics Committee on the issue of Timothy Elling, chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, accepting a pair of Super Bowl tickets.

The board made no determination on the matter.

“I believe that the Ethics Committee did their due diligence, they made no recommendation to us whatsoever, and I just believe that the issue is finished,” Hart said.

The councilman added that Clarke was a sponsor of the law establishing the Code of Ethics violations for receiving gifts above the amount of $75 during his time on the board.

“The district attorney has not taken it. The New York State comptroller does not want to get involved in it,” Hart said. “There was a process that the town Board set up, and the process was followed.”

I could be wrong - but

I think the West Seneca Board of Ethics actually passed no judgment/recommendation to the Town Board.

So actually no one did anything and as one Town Board Member stated, The Board of Ethics did their thing - we did ours and nothing needs to be done - WHAT ?

So while the Town Board plays patronage bingo - the Board of Ethics give a pass on the gift issue and the Zoning Board guy enjoys a free game provided by a grateful developer(not identified).

Sounds just like most controlling Parties - if they don't like you they dig up your grammar school record to get rid of you - if they like you - you can take bribes as long as there little ones. Wouldn't want other Board Members to be jealous now would we !

Hey - its all part of the "Party Game" - voters don't mind !

In Lancaster we have no Board of Ethics - they tried to appoint a Board but when those appointed realized they might be asked to over look the Towns Leaders - they all quit one at a time.

You do have to wonder if those tickets were from a developer

Just for the record, our censured Lancaster town council man was censured in the summer (6/2012) preceding his run for town justice. His lack of ethics wasn't something borne out from decades earlier.

His task as a councilman is to do what is right for the taxpayers of this municipality. If he felt Mr Thill was the right choice as he told Mr Thill, then he has proved that his votes are purely POLITICAL. I don't want any representative Democrat or republican to vote for purely POLITICAL reasons.

Also, Mr. Aquino said they were going in a different direction, what.......Now that scares me as to what direction Mark Aquino is referring too.
