A new report that has begun tracking housing foreclosures in the largest metropolitan areas says Buffalo has among the lowest rates in the U.S.

Based on information for the first quarter of 2006, Buffalo ranked 80th out of 100 cities on the report by RealtyTrac, which is based in Irvine, Calif.

For the months of January through March, 453 properties in the Buffalo market were listed for foreclosure, or one out of every 1,129 area households.

Albany, at 94th, had the best, or lowest, foreclosure rate among New York state metros. Rochester was 65th on the list and New York City was 59th.
Foreclosures were highest in Indianapolis, according to RealtyTrac, with one for every 69 properties in that market followed by Atlanta, with one out of every 70 homes.
