The drug war has been used to justify some of the most heinous crimes police have committed against people in the United States. Police routinely use the excuse that they are searching for drugs or drug related paraphernalia to search people, homes and cars every day when they otherwise would not have an excuse to do so. Now with the prevalence of smartphones and some police departments requiring police officers to wear body cams, people who have been illegally searched, robbed, arrested, and even murdered are bringing police abuses to the public eye.
