Did you hear the new term today? Revenue Neutral?

So the tolls can be close as long as it's revenue neutral. I heard that on channel 2 I think. I flip from 2,4,7 because they each have something interesting to say.

The unions think we shouldn't close the tolls to keep the jobs.

I feel bad for anyone to lose thier job but there will always be people losing thier jobs while others get jobs. It's how it works.

I wonder what the man on TV from the thurway authority earns along with benefits.

They hope the 190 will pay for itself through Fed dollars.
The paper work for that they can shuffle, through fancy foot work, leaving the impression that the 190 is revenue negative. Giving way for them to leave up the commuter tax booths.

    Toll Workers

    From WGRZ's Web Site:

"About 200 people work at the Black Rock and Ogden tolls. 60 of them are toll collectors. The rest are clerical and maintenance employees."

Anyone else see something wrong with this picture?

Yep, that's an aweful lot of glorified cashiers.
The perfect picture of government inefficency and waste.
Now, do you think if the toll roads were run by private enterpise, that they would operate that way??? Hmmm....

I heard something like a toll collector makes $38,000 plus benefits.

there's 200 people working there not producing a sellable product or service.

    200 X $38,000 = $7,600,000 dollars

Benefits have to be like $5000 or more a year per person

    200 X 5000 = $1,000,000 dollars

for a total of $8,600,000 which leaves $2,400,000 for what ever upkeep, heating, electric and basic operations of those tolls.

    WHAT IS THE POINT?

We need the public authorities investigated and audited.

I think the math speaks for itself. Its the same for any other county, state or federal job. 1 works, 3.5 watch or justify their being where they are.
