Frankeee, I understand the rich get richer by the the tax breaks the poor get poorer, and the middle class just keep their head above water. How about some big Manufacturing Jobs for the area not a hat company and a guy that buys property to make money for himself. The problem is these people (jacobs) have more than enough money to pay their taxes .. Same with pegula and the harbor center. lets see how much tax money terry will want for a new stadium..

I don't remember Pegula getting tax breaks for his projects downtown. Did he get tax breaks? One of the problems is that the types of jobs you're thinking of are rare today. Most of that stuff today is performed by machine or computer. I'm old enough now that I remember the promise of computers...they would free us from the drudgery of work. No one bothered to mention that nothing would take the place of all the lost jobs. Hell, today even a crook needn't walk down the street and rob the bank; he can simply log on and rob beyond the wildest dreams of Willie Sutton.

grump, if he didn't get the breaks he wouldn't of built.. they all make threats like leaving the area etc. this is just one property that was sold...Royal Dutch Shell purchased most of Pegula's East Resources' holdings for $4.7 billion in cash four years ago. Now just sold another property for $2.5 billion that money was for the purchase of the Bills.. But he wants a tax break they are all the same.. He is a business man he bought the bills to make money and not worried about the die-hards. Lets see if he foots the bill for a new stadium he has the cash..

The ECIDA approved a nearly $37 million tax incentive package that includes $28 million in property tax breaks over 10 years, $7.5 million in sales tax savings and $1.2 million in mortgage-recording tax breaks. Almost simultaneously, the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corp. gave its backing to the design of the massive project, which will be located on the edge of the Canalside development.

Prices at the pump head below $3 in much of U.S. but not in NY or this area..
NEW YORK – The price of a gallon of gasoline may soon start with a “2” across much the country.

Cities in high-priced and high-taxed states such as New York and California will not be among them, though, which will probably keep the national average above $3.00.
Aidan Obrecht, 20, a community college student from Boothwyn, Pa., said gas in his area has fallen 10 to 20 cents over the past couple of weeks. (2 to 3 cents in this area) He paid $3.27 a gallon Thursday to fill up his Ford Taurus on his way to work at a CVS pharmacy.
The average in Springfield, Mo., is already below $3, according to Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service... wow

Lower fuel prices help the economy in a few ways. ( tell the politicians in this state this) They make goods cheaper to ship and make travel more affordable. Drivers are left with a few extra dollars in their pockets. And consumers grow confident enough to make other purchases, perhaps even a big-ticket item. Consumer spending is 70 percent of the U.S. economy.

Did any of that go to Pagula? My recollection is that he did his project without tax breaks. I never heard him say he would leave if he didn't get tax breaks. Hell, he just got here! Of course he bought the Bills to make money! You think he bought them hoping to lose money.?

For the record, Pegula's project is privately funded. This means no taxpayer $$$. Sorry to disappoint.

If he didn't get tax breaks that means he really doesn't owe any elected officials/parties any favors. That is pretty cool.

The reason why our gas prices don't drop fast is because we are one of the furthest northern cities in the state and price dropping are totally controlled therefore, just deal with the high cost for your gas or make changes how, when and what vehicle you use, you could buy a peddle bike for the summer months and use a smaller car in the winter months. Otherwise, we are all at other powers mercy.

Buffalo is closest to Canadian gas suppliers if it wasn't for all the taxes the gas would be cheaper. down here I paid $2.95 and it is still falling
