Bein' a working stiff, I stopped by on occasion to keep paying on the bill for the Chevelle, so I could see what was going on. The guys at Fine Line Collision in S.Wales did it. Now I know what a "super straight" car is.

Anyone feel like helping pull a motor? Rear seal is leaking. Thought I got it after I turned the Centerforce dual friction clutch disc into black cotton candy. Guess oil impregnated discs don;t quite "cotton" to powershifts at 7200 rpm.

Beauty of that Poncho motor, btw, it makes all its grunt below 6000 rpm. Olds and Buicks are the same way.

I have an engine stand you can have. I'll probably never use it again.

    Getting Closer....

Seeing the carb was changed the fuel lines had to be bent...

    Every original piece is saved.

When you bolt it all together you end up with this:

He did something with the gas tank also. I don't know exactly what though. Looks like an outlet was changed.

    After

I don't know exactly what they changed or did. Unless the new outlet is larger.

    Zoom Zoom

Everything is started to get mounted to the frame. Aero Collision is doing an excellent Job. They do insurance work if you you had a fender bender lately. Highly recommend them, I've seen the work they do.

That round hole where the exhaust cross over is where dennysdriveshaft.com drive shaft will mount to.

I hope gas prices stay down

Price is always an object. If I don't sell it when it's done yes you can go for a ride in it.

    3 core radiator now a 4 core

This is what is left from the old radiator. Could not really be used.

    Radiator for GTO

Don's Welding on Transit in Depew did a nice job. (716) 683-5649

The original damaged one was a 3 core which they made me up a 4 core with a larger tank. The new radiator will cool the engine much better. It will be painted and installed.

Look at this cool way this problem was solved. Custom Dual Exhaust

Originally this car had an exhaust that exited just behind the driver's side door. It exited under the frame and would bottom out.

    Custom Exhaust System

Ken at Aero came up with this idea.

The frame was re-enforced and cut away so the new exhaust could pass through. All the bending was done in house.

    Custom Exhaust System

The new exhaust will allowed for better flow that the old one.

    Isn't that sweet looking

    Custom Exhaust System

Anyone notice what drive shaft they used? Can't wait for mine.

Awesome Res, I just read the whole thread this morning - what a project! Any ETA on completion? Did you pick a color yet? 2084 looks great (red) that with a black interior would be nice.

One tip, make sure you tighten the oil drain plug when you change the oil for the first time. I had a friend who restored his GTO years ago and he did just that (forgot to tighten it) and the engine was ruined.

    Color Time

Below is the original color of the car except the top was tan not black and the interior is tan. I could live with that color but..........

What do you all think about something on this order....

The paint guys are trying to steer me to a metalic silver but it just doesn't do anything for me.....

Stay with the original color? or pick something more muscle car color?
