Please. Tell us a few stories. Enlighten the ignorant on this thread.

That stretch really SHOULD be 45. Just a "money trap."

First, if you get a ticket on that street, go to court and plead guity, you'll get 2 parking on a highway tickets $110 total and no points.

They call millersport the piggy bank for a reason.

If the cops wanted Millersport -- between six corners and Sheridan -- a highest production so-called speed trap, they should get more creative. First, they generally shoot the NorthBound lane from the Grover Cleveland Plaza. Rarely will you find them shooting the SouthBound lanes (which would be those potentially holding vehicles that exited I290).

I presume there are characteristics of NorthBound lanes and/or vehicles that the Amherst police believe are better suited to their interests(?). I am no expert in speed enforcement, so I am not sure what/if those characteristics might be.

I equate the personality of this section of Millersport to the personality of Sheridan Drive between, say, Eggert Road and Belmont in Tonawanda. The speed limit on Sheridan is higher than Millersport.

Also, I recall a State DOT guy once telling me that speed limits are associated with the maximum speed that a professional driver could navigate the road. Speed limits were set roughly 80% of that "maximum speed". I don't know if that's a rule of thumb or just that one State DOT guy's casual comment.

Millersport is a New York State road, no?

Millersport Highway and Grover Cleveland Highway are both New York State Route 263

Keep in mind a lot of the times they sit on the side street, they target college kids who live by north campus driving to south and vice versa. The plaza on Millersport and the six corners isn't the only place they sit.

    yes
even in the worst snow I've seen since moving here the road is always bare
the state plows go down it two at a time, back and forth multiple times an hour, staggered so the snow from the left lane truck goes in front of the right lane truck and then onto the curb

    Actually Amherst Cops ARE biased.

If you fall under any of these you have a MUCH higher risk of being pulled over by APD:

The plate on your vehicle registers to an address OUTSIDE of clarence, or Amherst.

    Your plate registers Buffalo.
    Your black
You have long hair for a guy.
    Your driving a crappy car.

Case in point... I have seen a POS pick up get pulled over for speeding on Main st at 1 am.

I have also seen mercedes fly by amherst cops on main st in the middle of the night and they dont even turn around.
Willful ignorance is the downfall of every major empire in history.

When I moved out here to Southern Cal. in November 1996, I heard on AM radio that Amherst, NY was named the safest city in America.

    *edit*

Here's what I found. Confirms what I heard on the radio.
