Amherst attorney arrested in attempted rape

    http://www.buffalonews.com/437/story/720373.html?imw=Y

    Bflo News:
"An attorney from Amherst has an Aug. 11 court date on attempted rape and two other felony charges following an incident two weeks ago at the home of a woman he knows.

Amherst police charged Philip R. Rothschild III, 46, with first-degree attempted rape, criminal sexual act, burglary, unlawful imprisonment and aggravated harassment after the June 17 incident, police said. He was arrested the next day.

Police accused Rothschild of entering the woman’s home, attacking her and holding her against her will for a short time before she managed to flee. He is free on $100,000 bail."

I'm betting the "criminal sex act" may be hard to explain. I wonder if he'll represent himself? That is, if the victim doesn't drop the charges by then.

Huh. I went to Camp Lakeland with a Philip R. Rothschild who was in my group one summer and was about a year younger than me.

Yes. That's a very exciting bit of information.

Are you talking about the Williamsville guy that got caught & busted after ripping off his clients for tens-of-millions?

My usual "psycho paranoia" aside, if you also went to Camp Lakeland, I get the eerie feeling that you know me!

Throwing away a fulfilling, respected career as an attorney from a few moments of blind rage?

If that's the case, there's the distinct possibility that the victim recants her statement, drops all charges, and accepts the cash-stuffed manilla envelope that appears on her doorstep.
