Is Mark Poloncarz serious about closing all county offices tomorrow due to cold and snow? We are in a special time now with people applying for heap, unemployment benefits being shutoff to thousands, and Mark shuts the offices for those in need of help. How many important businesses close due to snow or cold.If someone has a problem getting in to work they call their boss and explain why. Some county offices are very important, they should be kept open and manned by those who can get in. What a joke.
Is it a paid snow day?

If a person has a problem coming into work they should call their supervisor and explain why.A person in need of emergency heap is delayed just one day they could freeze to death. So is it fair that a county worker gets to stay home because it may be too cold out that a person in need of heat freezes to death.Yes if these workers live in a heavy snow area they call their bosses and explain. These bosses in turn can call in those off duty today and have no snow problems to ask them to come in to man the emergency offices. Utility workers and police and fire, hospitals have similar policies and not just shut down. County emergency offices including those in need of assistance should be open. Everybody who is against welfare has to realize this is a life threatening situation. If you don't like the system work on changing it, don't freeze a person to death or not help a person in need of food. Today is the time to help , complain after the emergency is over.
So a county worker should put themselves at risk to process HEAP forms for someone who could have done them at an earlier date? The HEAP applicant isn't going to freeze to death, don't be a drama queen. It can wait a day. Even if the evil gas company is out all day today shutting off gas to homes who are delinquent in payment, then warming centers are available.
Yes certain workers take a job knowing the responsibility. Utility workers, police and fire and hospitals have to put themselves at risk. And yes a one day delay on getting your gas turned back on could result in death , the temperatures are below 0 and wind chills way below zero..Not everyone knows about heat shelters.
