Congressman Brian Higgins is teaming up with AIDS Community Services of Western New York, Inc. to provide regular access to his office services through the “Congress On Your Corner” program. On the second Friday of each month the staff from Congressman Higgins’ office will be available, by appointment, at AIDS Community Services.

“This is a great opportunity to partner with a local service agency to fill a critical need in our community,” said Congressman Higgins. “Sometimes it is difficult for residents to come to us; Congress on Your Corner is designed so we can take our services directly to the people.” Constituents will have the opportunity to talk with someone from Congressman Higgins’ office about issues related to housing, health care, immigration or any other matters they may need assistance with.

“This agency and our staff and clients could not be more pleased and gratified that we will be able to host this “Congress on Your Corner” satellite office in our central office,” said Ron Silverio, ACS President and CEO. “One of the greatest challenges for our consumers, may be facing bureaucratic roadblocks to accessing appropriate federal assistance. With 85% of our clients and patients eligible for, or receiving some form of public assistance, this assistance from the Congressman’s staff is invaluable.”

In an effort to provide individualized attention at the AIDS Community Services “Congress on Your Corner” site, residents are encouraged to call Congressman Higgins’ office at 716-852-3501 to set up an appointment.

In 2005 Congressman Higgins’ “Congress on Your Corner” program was offered over 130 times at locations across the 27th District in an effort to better serve residents in Erie and Chautauqua Counties.

Residents can also continue to reach Congressman Higgins’ Erie County office at from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday at 726 Exchange Street in Buffalo or 2 E. Second Street in Jamestown.
