I collect Buffalo/local history type items.

You learn a lot from old news papers. Specially how one of the controlling political parties has hurt us property owners and businesses in Erie County. Buffalo was a power house of innovation and business at one time. It just wasn't that one party either. It was a few self serving developers who made loads of money off of projects that in hindsight didn't do much but we paid for them dearly.

Quite a few people like seeing/reading about old vintage Buffalo items. Pulls in traffic for speakup.

I know I have been talking about it for a while but I would like to redo www.onlinebuffalo.com

Have one section based on all the local history stuff we have collected over the years. Would take a lot of work to scan everything in. Ideally I would like to type all the copy in from some of the items so they are text searchable. I would have to have a lot of volunteers or hire a service to do so.

This isn't my oldest news paper or from the local area but I think you would like it.

    Just a thought…
You might not need to type it all in. A decent color corrected photo from your dslr, fed into decent OCR software and you can eliminate most if not all typing.…in theory.
The OCR software for my epson scanner is pretty good, and it's just bundled OCR software. It will automatically separate text from images too.

I copied and pasted this scanned political mailer into Microsoft OneNote which was on my computer.
After pasting it to OneNote, I right-clicked and clicked copy text from picture and pasted that along side the pic and this was the result.
