Council member Shelly Schratz said it isn’t true but the facts speak for themselves. Shelly bought the house next door, to her home and restaurant BING’S on Kensington, for a place for her mother to reside. She said she spent $33,000 to repair the inside and outside of the house to make it habitable.

She paid $63,000 for the home which was assessed for $123,000. Her assessment this year for this same residence, after all the repairs were made, dropped $44,000, to $79,000.

LOGICALLY, when a house is improved the assessment goes up. Shelly said she had a discussion with the men who assessed her house and they lowered the assessment $44,000. Way to go Council member Schratz!
