A different take re residents appearing before Town Board on Lancaster Airport safety

Having read news reports from the two Lancaster media sources on Nichter Road residents petitioning the town board for support in contacting Lancaster Airport (4343 Walden Avenue) management to address flight pattern safety , I have to question whether I heard the same things being said at the work session and at the regular meeting.

A different article I read stated the couple who were complaining about the airport had preciously lived out under a turning pattern for Buffalo Airport.

The simple solution? Find out before you are going to build and see if it is any problem... like having a train nearby ( they didn't complain on that) or being near a quarry ( they are) or flooding ( they are on a spring fed area which has the potential) etc, etc.... as well as a very obvious airport. Will they want the town to "fix it" if a train derails, or the lake floods or the land in the close quarries shift and rattles the basement? This is nothing other than a glaring show of being a NIMBY... all too common now ( We have lived in the far end of town over 37 years and no one who as lived her that long does the NIMBY thing, just new builds and owners. They are embarrassing)

There are many airports around the country that support general aviation that are and have been threatened to be closed . All of these airports have been in existence long before the developers set foot near the properties.
Miggs Fiels on Chicago's shoreline, as well as Santa Rosa Air Center (an old B17 base) have been closed due to development. For the complete list check with AOPA.

It's a never ending and ongoing battle.

People who want "what they want where they want" [this couple's house on Nichter, in this case] don't give a hoot about pre-existing industry or facilites that might bother them. All they are going to do is complain that they never knew it was there. They need to do research first and if they don't, too bad.
