Channel 2 reports that West Seneca wants out of the AmeriCorps Business.

The Town fronts the money for the grants and is then reimbursed.

The Town Supervisor says he is still waiting for $2 million to be reimbursed and in the mean time it is money the town could be gaining interest on.

Mark Lazzara says it is the cost of doing business.

The Supervisor says that according to a grant agreement the Town fronts $200,000.00 a month for AmeriCorps operational expenses. He says that it is slowly being paid back, but in his opinion not fast enough.

Lazzara says the Town will get “almost” all of its money back.
