Clarence school district 3rd - 8th grade test results

Here are the new 3rd - 8th grade state test results for the Clarence school district. First number is the number who took the test. The second number is the number who had superior test scores. The 3rd number is the number of students who had basic and superior scores combined. Then the percentage who received superior scores and the percentage who received basic and superior scores combined.

News flash, children of wealthier, credentialed parents do better on standardized tests than children of their poorer, less credentialed cousins...Yep, that's a story just waiting to get published...

Not all suburban children have wealthy parents.

Do all these children have wealthy parents?

Oh man are you really serious?? Yes, City Honors has a far smaller free and reduced lunch population compared to district averages. It's a combination gorja of parental credentialed education levels (i.e. some parents may have advanced degrees but lower paying jobs) AND parental income levels. And yes gorja, in Clarence, the kids have wealthier parents. The free and reduced lunch eligibility in the Clarence school is a whopping 4%. Would you like to compare that to City Honors, where the numbers are about 15%? Then compare that to the "next" best high school Hutch Tech, where the numbers are about 65%, the scores drop pretty significantly. Then let's compare that to the district where the numbers are above 70%. Enough already, I'm not using poverty as an excuse not to learn or not to teach kids, but poverty and parental education levels has EVERYTHING to do with how learning is measured. So who is really surprised that even though the results will decrease on the new state assessments, guess who will be on top again? Oh, that's right, the wealthy districts. Who will be on bottom again? Oh, that's right, the poorer districts.

The poor...we can give them a free lunch, but we can't educate them. Perpetual victims.

Do Clarence teachers get a free breakfast every morning like the Buffalo Leechers?

Let me repeat this slowly for you since your teachers obviously failed in instilling reading comprehension as a valued skill.

    1) Anyone, regardless of income, can become educated.

    2) Not everyone can demonstrate their understanding of content in the same way. The way things are now, wealthier districts perform better on "measures of education" than poorer districts, these tests just repeat more of the same. So of what value are they? Oh right, they push up real estate values and drive up property taxes so that people can have exclusive neighborhoods. But keep believing, bootstrappers like yourself were born in a vacuum just primed to succeed solely based on YOUR individual accomplishments. That's ok, you didn't learn history either, I guess public education really failed you.

As far as I know, only students get a cup of milk and a cup of cereal for breakfast.

    1. They can? Then why are you failing so miserably and continually offering "poor" as your excuse?
    2. Did somebody else study for me? Take my SATs? Apply and attend university for me? Get commissioned as an officer for me? Serve almost a decade in the active military and reserves for me? No? Well then, I guess we'll chalk this up as another thing you know nothing about. And please, a public education? I don't know what's funnier, the fact you continually make excuses as to why you can't get the job done, or calling what you do "educating".

Go get your free breakie, leech.

Let me see if I can simplify this for you. Suppose you have a person of Asian descent and they have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. Now, not being a native speaker of English (maybe not knowing any English at all), you ask this gentleman to write a paper on theoretical physics, but you say, "It must be entirely in English". His paper is a catastrophe and narrow-minded people then conclude, well, he must not know anything about theoretical physics because he couldn't write a paper on theoretical physics in English.

Maybe you don't understand the difference between intelligence, education and the measurement of these things. I hope the above example has helped. Please get back to me after you've slapped yourself up with congratulations on your derisive yet moronic wit.

Nothing in the above post has anything to do with my reply, or the post I replied to. Did you think you were fooling somebody into thinking it did?

Wow...you took those SAT's all by yourself now did you? Wasn't there a reading comprehension and a TSWE section? Let's see, now you know that each sections' score was out of 800 right?

Test scores declined everywhere so it's hard to judge how much is test and how much is systemic. I do know that when test scores drop in the Amherst school district and they have before, the district takes step to remedy the problems...well, steps that aren't limited to whining to the state that it's just too hard. By the way property values are doing just fine in Amherst. Over my way homes are selling for their best prices in 20 years. In fact over the last 30 years the economic driver in western NY has been Amherst. Other towns don't want to be Amherst? Just as well because the rest of them couldn't be if they tried.
