SCREW THE CASINO!!! Buffalo's best selling point is the FOOD!

    Don't believe me? Read on:
Well, it's nice to know I'm not alone in the world. After looking through your guestbook its easy to notice everybody that leaves Buffalo shares the same yearning for unique local delicacies. We're all among the growing number across the globe that have concluded they can't seem to live without Sponge Candy, Salehn's Hot Dogs, Weber's Mustard, Rooties anything . . . I'm to the point where I even get cravings for their commercial aspects- the Perry's Ice Cream and Redlinski jingles, the shape of the mustard jar, the "Alethea's" font on the plastic bag- oh the memories they bring! Although I am here to do a little early Christmas shopping for my mom; I've feel better for noticing there is an inherent message hidden under the text from almost everybody that signed your Guestbook: it may all boil down to the food we miss; but there really is no place like Buffalo. Along with the good and the bad it's family, friends and a unique and invaluable way to appreciate life.' It's easy to see that the city is in a bad state of disrepair but over the past 20 years I've seen improvements that predict a brighter future. The streets, the parks, the night life, the shopping- even the food have all become healthier and I've come to realize that snow is truly the stuff that my dreams are made of. I've lived all over the country and have finally learned that life is exactly what you make of it and I can make the most of it and be the most content in Buffalo. With its snow, its people, its buildings, its aging infra-structure. My mouth waters just to sit in my living room on my lazy-boy with a can of pop in one hand- munching on sponge-candy in a bag in the other and a half finshed Bocce's pizza sprawled out half-finished on the coffee table in front of me. I can't wait to return to Buffalo and hopefully it wont be waiting longer than the end of summer, for my sake. Living without your family, your childhood friends and a city that you see every time you close your eyes, really isn't living at all. See you in August Buffalo!

There is no one more proud to be born & raised in Buffalo (Riverside & Kenmore) than this girl! I've always preached the greatness of our Sahlen's hot dogs, Chiavetta's chicken (I remember the days at the Erie County Fair!), Anchor Bar chicken wings (Duffs, too!), & yes, beef on weck (from Andersen's!) to my husband. He didn't believe in the greatness until he tried it..now he was is thrilled to be able to order the flavor from home for me. There is no greater town than Buffalo, & I'm always proud to tell folks that I'm a Buffalonian tried & true! Go Bills & Sabres

Buffalo needs to find a really great LOCAL advertising company and start a campaign to get these people back. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see how much people miss Buffalo. I've said it a million times before, and I'll say it again - Buffalo has A LOT GOING FOR IT! OPEN YOUR EYES! LOWER THE TAXES, QUIT PLAYING GAMES - COMPROMISE (City and suburbs) and bring your people home!

I have a friend who told me about her brother that lived in AZ for a long time. As a Buffalonia he'd come back every year for family and Buffalo food. Every visit before heading back, he'd purchase a case of mustard to take home...

I guess mustard is hard to come by out west.

I htink the broadway market is on the way out though. Community landmark or not if it's a business that can't even collect enough rent to stay open it has to go too. Sad but true. You can't expect tax money to go into that when other competing food sellers are not getting that tax money.

I haven't been there in years but is the place just slow? Or is it that there are not as many sellers there anymore?
