There are plenty of investors and small business men from NYC that are snapping up real estate on the east side. They can't believe the potential here in Buffalo.

I like rolling the dice at the casino... the potential is awsome. Does that make me a smart investor?

If anyone is interested in understanding the process, here is an invitation. Shadow me in dealing with the construction and development process here in WNY. Meet with the adjacent landowners that want to insure that their private dump site for grass clippings is not harmed. Or that the scap trees stay well rooted. Or meet with the politicians that are so concerned about their own asses that they are afraid to go against the tree huggers. Last time I looked, grass fields and empty old buildings don't pay taxes or employ anyone. Two weeks with me and you will be cynical (suicidal).

But that could be said of the other three cities (Albany, Syracuse, and Rochester) which are before Buffalo as you move westward from NYC. What is the allure of Buffalo?

The great political leadership? The lower sales tax? Low cost power? Unusually low labor rates? Gimme something

No. San Diego and LA have great tech sectors because of the connection to the bay area.

Lefty, of all the people on this MB, I figured you'd be the last person to compare California with NY. San Diego/LA versus Buffalo/Rochester, egad!

Because of pork from Albany to the Albany region, the University of Albany has a nanotechnology program that is growing and is a complement to tech sector.

They are essentially following the road map of Silicon Valley and Standford, which grew up from "nothing" in the last 40 years.

Put it this way...the moment high speed train travel connects Albany to NYC on a consistent basis...Albany is going to blow up. In a good way.
This could actually be a taxpayer funded program that pays off.
And if handled correctly a boon for the whole state.
Once these nano carbon tubie thingys are ready for production.
They'll be a need for new manufacturing facilities.

Maybe next to existing college towns which could initiate the training programs these new high tech manufacturing jobs would require.
The center of the applied end of nano research is going on at RPI.
Google RPI and nano and see whats planned.

So you might want to be a stop on the high speed nano train.
Albany the head of R and D
    Upstate handles manufacturing and distribution.
    Madison Ave Marketing.
Wall street will have a new industry to invent worthless derivative investments so they can earn big commissions while screwing the public.
And everyone will have more money to vacation in the Adirondacks.

    good times ahead.
    Hillary will NEVER be President
    Obama is a FORMER President
Joe Biden is in Scranton eating paste.

This nonsense reminds me of a Simpson's episode:
