    It knows no bounds...

Is corruption a requirement to serve in any public capacity in this region?

Lately who believes the system is currupt as a whole? Perhaps not that they are literally stealing from the till but taking paychecks without any measurable results for thier efforts? Now we talking some rather large paychecks and benifits for the actual work they perform.

Think about the amount of taxes you pay for school and property on top of everything else that is taxed in NYS. WHERE does all the money go. THey give load away to welfare to generate thier votes and it almost seems like they are pocketing the rest. How much do we have to show for the amount of cash that we pay in taxes. How are your road? bridges? etc? Not a lot to show for the amount we pay.

I'm not talking the basic civil servant. I meant the groups of administration, developers and acutal politicians.

    Thoughts?

It's just not where it goes but to whom. Not to mention where(as you have asked).
The US govt gives 22 million to the UN every year. And we also have our own charities that the UN is not even involved in. Billions of tax payers dollars are leaving the country via Washington. If Bush want to cut taxes and the deficit, cut over seas expenses.

I know this is a little off the subject but it still applies in it's own little anology.

We are the welfare nation. We give welfare to anyone and everyone at your expense America. AT YOUR EXPENSE. And mine and my kids. Let France take care of some country at the same price, they will never do it , and at the same time condem us for not taking care of it.

Have you guys started a grass roots organization yet to deal with this sh*t? It's pretty easy and I could help you (from afar) if you would like. We have more committees and groups that oppose/support issues than you would believe. BUT - stuff gets accomplished. I have seen a few councilmen and mayors booted out of office when caught with their hands in anothers pockets....................

YOu know what the problem is? There's SO many politicians and "supervisors" in our pockets where the hell do you start? This doesn't even include all the scam welfare departments they started.

It's a sin, I can't believe the stories I hear in general. I wish i could get more details but you have to see the crap going on in Amherst and thier little political group is going to do their best to hush it all up. Then the stuff in the county goverment, whole other level of waste and curruption. THen cheektowaga, even thinking about a casino is stupid seeing they can't fix the roads now as it is. For all the business that grows inthe burbs you would think residnets would pay next to nothing for taxes. Seems most other states do, why not NY?

People openly joke that the Erie County Water Authority is currupt with patronage and crap. Look how that judge gagged the olma crap. THATS our dollars they awarded to them. I want to know how much. Perhaps we could offer the olmas more and have them tell us the curruption from that system. THere has to be a reason to just pay them off secretly. That is what is, secretly. We use that information to clean some of the departments up. Maybe in the long run we would save more tax money than what they paid the olmas not to go to court.

It's bad enough a good portion of them (politicians) are overpaid for what they don't do, they have the nerve to steal from us at the same time. It's like they don't comprehend the damage they are doing to our economy in WNY.

If we decid to form a grassroots team to correct the bad management in WNY there would be lots of planning.

The only way that would happen would be with teamwork and focus. It's not that easy to focus a large group on one common cause. The focus would be on WNY as a whole with each town as a non competing entity and Buffalo as the core. If the region was planed in that fashion we would of been far ahead of what we are now. It's called teamwork even if at the level of towns and city.

We do have to start thinking another dam though, or water electrical generation plant. We got niagara falls and there ain't no other. Cost of doing business is the key, the more competative the area is, the more companies would work from here. Why wouldn't the public want cheap electricty? Sort of makes the quality of life a little better. We couldn't heat our homes with electric and screw the gas BILLS!!!. I mean we do have some cold winters here. Now why wouldn't we want that? We need reasons for people to want to live here.

There's a whole bunch of work to do...

    Okay, a couple of suggestions:

    1. Get a lawyer on your side. Doesn't have to be anyone fancy, just someone who knows where to get access to public records and knows how the law is to be abided. This should be pro-bono work. Many high end coporate law firms will work pro-bono because it makes them look good.

    2. Start small. Take one problem, focus on it and try to solve it. Trying to solve everything at once is too overwhelming and will only prevent you from accomplishing anything. Pick one thing and go after it. Try something small first to get the feel of organizing and how to go about getting the work done. I see many on here either support or are against the casino, I believe there is organization there, it's a start.

    3. Now, actually meet. After you get together and lay out your long term goal it is just a matter of taking the steps to get your point across. Visit over websites from other towns/cities that place transcripts of their town meetings online, read them, follow them, get ideas from them.

Look, there are a few regulars on this board that are more than capable of turning things around. You, for one, belong in a leadership role. Curmudgeon too. Do not allow money or education to stand in your way. Life experience cannot be bought. You guys can do this thing.

This is all moot for buffalo. We have a control board and our politicians have been rendered usless. Lets here some county proposals and see how we can get this hand out of my pocket.

If your going to reach into my pocket for money you could at least get me oof.

    Us Gives $22b...

to the UN annually? That's small potatoes. This
nation sends the tiny State of Israel approximately
    $3,000,000,000.00 to $5,000,000,000.00 EACH
YEAR and most Americans don't even know it!

That will have to stop to. Since when is the US a ATM for other countries. I don't care how large the jewish population is in the USA and if they vote even. Lets say there's 200,000,000 million people in the us each paying taxes, I dont know the acutal number. But thats like $5 bucks per person per billion. I want my $5 per billion to go to our kids and our people for schools and stuff. What do we gain from giving them that money?

did you know that the Jewish population is smaller that the african american population? But the only reason we support Israel is because of militay stratigics.
Most Jewish people do not even come from israel. The biggest population came from Europe and the slav states.
