Okoniewski, a candidate in the upcoming primary for the Democratic Party's nomination for Lovejoy Council member, held a large piece of wood while squaring off with the man on Fillmore Avenue, FBI agents said. Okoniewski then knocked the man to the ground and was joined by Strzeszynski in apprehending him.

Have to admit, pretty damned cool. I hope he shined his boots on the guy.

No, I don't think there was a boot-shining... he and another just held the suspect down until police arrived minutes later. The situation could have at anytime taken a turn and put many lives in danger. The "get-a-way" car could have had a driver with a loaded gun or something.

Fortunately things happened just the way they did.
