    Avacados....

Spring isn't here yet but I'm gonna start an avocado seed. They are free. All you have to go do is go to www.wegmans.com and buy an avocado.

    avacados

They are far larger than most vegetable seeds.

All you need is a bowl, a seed and some skewers

    avacado seed

use the skewers to support the seed so the bottom soaks in water until it sprouts.

I used a clear bowl so I could see what is going on.

    avacado seed

after 24 hours not much as happened....

I wonder if it is going to sprout.. from what I read on a few websites is that it could take up to 3 weeks.

I wanted soil from Harvest Moon in the Airport Plaza. They were giving away free samples of General Hydroponic Rapid Start Rooting Enhancer.

    General Hydroponic Rapid Start

Basic nutrients that helps enhance root growth..

    General Hydroponic Rapid Start

Seems potent. 1 tsp per 5 gallons of water.

    We'll see what happens.

Res, you better be careful. Your home and business may be under surveillance due to your hydroponics purchases.

A Kansas couple’s home was raided by police looking for marijuana plants several months after the man purchased hydroponics gardening equipment.
Police, who claimed to have had the house under surveillance for months, found only vegetables. Now the couple is suing in an effort to learn the basis
for the raid. Isn’t it time to end the phony war on drugs? http://personalliberty.com/2013/04/0...nce-drug-raid/

Another root has started. I wonder how long before a stem starts..

On a side note. I change about 50% of the water every few days. I leave a plastic gallon jug on the side so that the additives the water company puts into the water air out.

Well slowly but sure it is growing...

    Avocado Seedling

The water is changed out at least once a week. I save about 1/2 of the water and top it off with fresh water than as been sitting to air out. I also rinse the jar with hot water and wipe the inside if the jar to keep it clear. I have also been putting in a few drops of general hydroponic nutrients figuring it wouldn't hurt the plant.

It appears to put down deep roots...kinda like my ex-wife. I hope you and the avocado have a pre-nup.
