Another 75B of taxpayer money to help the poor and Stupid!

So Obama wants to spend 75B to help out those who A, bougth a house they can't afford or B, bought a house they "could" afford and then racked up a whole bunch of debt they couldn't afford!

Again more of my money paying for something I don't qualify for, what a waste!

Don't think for a minute that this is the end of the frenzy! Obama will have several more of these pork fests in the next few weeks. It is amazing how people are trusting this guy to do the right thing and they would have been all over other presidents that would have suggested the same measures. We are being conned big time!

I try to look on the bright side: At least it means I not poor and not stupid. But in general I agree with you. The money taxpayers are being required to devote to this truly ticks me off, although I'm not sure how any of us are helped by people losing their homes, unless we have enough to buy them, hold onto them until times are better, and resell them.

This instills only the WORST values in America, the lack of thinking about OTHERS and doing what's right for you, your familly and your community. This basically says, you can do whatever you want and WE'LL BAIL YOU OUT! THIS IS DESTORYING THE AMERICAN DREAM, we have given up all personally responcibility, too many people rely on the govt to save them from every problem. It's idiots like these that allow the idea of socialism and UNIVERAL death care to be mentioned!

Eh, the tax revolts and mass rioting/protests/civil war, IS coming. Especially when it comes time to start paying back the loan. And income tax climbs to 40% for anyone who makes 10K a year or more.

I agree fan. If help is not given so that homeowners can pay for their homes at a lesser mortgage interest, there will be more money in the long run for bank bailout where everyone but the top executives loses.

Also, we shouldn't blind ourselves to the fact that many of the homes are in foreclosure because of the loss of jobs. Not all were people that overextended themselves to borrow money off their homes and just blow it on luxuries they simply couldn't afford.

I was wondering what is new here? Is this really any different from those who live in flood plains or hurricane zones who look to the government for help after a storm or a flood? They look for the handout too!

I guess we in this MB are the only ones with personal responsibility.

    Or are we????

Does it matter why they were foreclosed on?

Purchasing a home is an investment. A poor investment on one person's part will result in a good investment in another person's perspective. We can't continue to give EVERYONE a trophy, our economic system doesn't work that way!

To be honest I was most upset that I couldn't get anything from this or anything from ANY of the programs this state or country offers!

Our choice here is to grant loans that are affordable (lower interest) so people can pay for them or we can shell out more money for bank bailouts if the foreclosures continue.

    Thumbs up

H.R. 1, the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009,” is finally signed. The bill is a $780 billion package, with roughly 35% of the package devoted to tax cuts (mostly for 2009) and the rest to spending intended to occur in 2009 and 2010.
