IF Patterson wants to do a Obesity tax why not a stupidity tax?
Why do stupid and irresponcbile people have to be bailed out at the taxpayers expence?
$20,000/134 people is only $150 a person! Make them pay not the cash strapped people of OHIO!!!
Should we be able to impose a stupid tax?

Ohio Sheriff Wants to Hold Rescued Fishermen Accountable
PORT CLINTON, Ohio (AP) -- Yesterday, he called the situation "idiotic." Today, the Ohio sheriff who took part in a massive rescue operation on Lake Erie says authorities should reconsider civil penalties for the stranded ice fishermen.
The Coast Guard and other rescuers had to use helicopters and airboats to reach 134 anglers such on a miles-long ice floe that broke away from the Ohio shoreline. One man fell into the water and later died of an apparent heart attack.
Ottawa County Sheriff Bob Bratton estimates the cost of the response at $20,000. He says the anglers rescued Saturday probably won't be forced to cover the cost, but he wants to find a way to recoup the county's losses and step up regulation.
Under current policies, a fisherman's name is recorded the first time he's rescued. The second time leads to an ice safety class, and the third can result in civil action and fines.

Dumbest post ever! Thanks for the laugh PO!
hes giving them three chances though? that seems reasonable to me. If someone has to be rescued THREE times for the same reason, seems to me they are wasting our tax dollars here .......
my family ice fishes all the time, one time with something like this and I think that might be enough for them to eh, maybe be more careful???
