Thank you to all those that attended.

The points brought up by a few counter protesters were: this is a democracy and you need to get a majority to vote for what you want, we should care about what goes on in others peoples homes, and that we have a violent culture.

Yes, voting is democratic. However, the majority of people have been re-educated away from freedom. It is unfortunate that bad things can happen in other folks homes. Our culture has regressed.

This person was higher educated. She had difficulty with the concept that, the police arrive after battery or worse, due to the victim not having a firearm for immediate defense. What seems to be standard fare; history was just about brushed off.

I would have gone, but I went to the Albany protest instead. Kind of sucks that the effort was split between multiple locations instead of everyone showing up at the capitol

The US is not run by mob rule (the democrat thug way) we are run as a representative Republic. Big difference. The mob does not get its way in America (well in theory - with blood thirsty power mongers like O'boy and Andy not so Dandy they are spitting on the grave of our founders and violating that principle of our freedom).

Over 2,000 is the estimate from the event hosts.
    1,500 - 2,000 from the Buffalo News.

    excerpt -

An enthusiastic crowd of roughly 1,500 to 2,000 gun-rights enthusiasts braved mid-40s temperatures and a stiff wind Saturday afternoon to make their presence – and their numbers – known at a Gun Appreciation Day and Second Amendment Rights Protest.

The politicians pretty much do what they want. Protesting is a waste of time. The only solution would be for more people to move out of the state. Let's see .....burdensome taxation, manipulation of the second ammendment, and no due process..

Does anybody remember learning about these things in history class.. You don't even have to leave NY to figure out this riddle.

    Move to Texas.

Obtaining a permit to carry concealed in the State of Texas requires a 10 hour Concealed Handgun License Certification Course. In NYS, it's just a 3 hour course

Texas has always required that concealed carry permits be renewed. NYS had no renewal requirement until the Safe act.

To renew a CC permit in Texas you need take a 5-hour renewal course.

And in Texas you can't carry concealed in a places serving alcohol, or church, or a medical facility. No such restrictions in New York State

To get a Texas concealed carry permit you need:

    Social security number,
Valid driver license or identification card,
Current demographic, address, contact, and employment information,
Residential and employment information for the last five years (new users only),
Information regarding any psychiatric, drug, alcohol, or criminal history (new users only),
    Valid email address, and
Valid credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express)

    Yee-Haa - Texas!

10000's of people have moved out of NYS. Just look at Erie County's population decline right down to the 1000's that have left our own Town of Cheektowaga while under democratic party control for the last 10 years.

Keep moving. We are still about 200,000 too many.

Another point maybe missing about Texas - they sell guns in hardware stores among other places.

Also - yes they insist you have a "Concealed" carry permit - but maybe it wasn't mention that you can carry or possess "openly" - meaning you will see guns openly exposed in cars - on a person and even on the table/counter in saloons.

Texas also has a low crime rate because more people are "obviously armed"

Maybe NY state should have at five or even ten hour course - no person should be exempt. Almost every requirement sited for Texas is also part of NYS permit requirements.

I have relatives in Texas, Nevada and Cali - I have traveled from one end of this country to the other - unless you've been there and regardless of how it reads off a website - their laws are no more restrictive or inhibiting than NYS.

You need to qualify which 200,000 more should move. You don't though. If 200,000 business owners move that wouldn't be a good thing. If 200,000 people who just stay on the government dole who are able bodied move that would be a good thing.
